  1. My 2 blueys are being worm drenched with Panacur. My lovely vet Christine put a lot of time and research into the project and came up with a dose rate and Izzy is on day 2 of a 3 day drenching and I will start Bluey on day 4. It is 3 days of the Panacur, then 10 days off then another 3 days on. Then I will get another poo sample analysed. Cheers, Vee
  2. This is how they live indoors. In my lounge. It isn't pretty but seems effective and not too expensive.
  3. Hi snake kid. That wire cage is just their "outside soaking up the uv rays" cage. Though it would work as a permanent home I guess. But my 2 live INDOORS in 2 nylon "flexariums". Side by side. Cheers, Vee
  4. Hi DonnaM. If you can give me the vets email addy {or phone number} that would be super because I am sure my vet up here in Picton would be happy to make contact and ask advice. I know Christine {my vet} is keen to do the best she can for my skinks but this is completely new to her. Cheers, Vee
  5. Oh..good for her. I wish I could say the same..that I had a supportive partner. But he is always down in the harbour playing on his boat!! Leaving me 2 skinks and 4 dogs for company. Cheers, Vee
  6. repto.... thanks for that info on ivomec. I sure wont be going that way! Cheers, vee
  7. I did water creatures way in the past. Now I am happy to have dry-land creatures. Much easier. Mind you... I wasn't exactly looking to have 2 blue tongue skinks either...it just sort of happened! Cheers, Vee
  8. WOW...you will have you hands FULL! I am impressed. Thanks for that. Cheers, Vee
  9. No turtles? fish? Not being cheeky...just nosey! Cheers, Vee
  10. Thanks again. I have emailed off to my reptile supply outlet because I have found there is a commercial product available in Aust. WORM-RID – REPTILE SCIENCE. Maybe it can be sourced for me here. What sort of reptiles have you got kiwiplymouth? Cheers, Vee
  11. Thanks for such a prompt reply Kiwiplymouth. Yes, as an ex farmer I am aware of what ivomec is/does. I would be relying on my vet to make the judgement call for dose rate etc. But I really want to know if there are alternatives? What others have used? Is there better choices? Cheers, Vee
  12. I took a poo sample from Izzy {blue tongue skink} to my vet for analysis. Results just back show pin worms. 3,000+ eggs per gram. My vet did a quick google of pin worms/lizards and about all she came up with was a sheep drench. Brand name Ivomec. Is there a procedure for drenching our skinks? What do others use? If anything. Being as I am very new to skinks altogether, any advice would be most welcome please. Cheers, Vee
  13. Don't hold your breath Aqua!! It takes up enough of my time and money having 2. Photo of them under the basking light late this afternoon. Izzy on top! Colour is a bit artificial.
  14. I had to wake my 2 up today. Gray, raining and no sunshine. So I woke them about 3.30 pm and plonked them under the basking light...here we have...Izzy on top.
  15. Talking about meal worms {if any one was!!!} is it only my 2 kids that are so not interested? They are like... meal worms..... BORING!!! Cheers, Vee
