My sisters got a budgie, apparently its not singing like it normally does. Has lost some feathers around its backside and is passing loose motions if you get what i mean. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

. Very true, would love to generate my own power but same thing 25k+ is a few years power so thats just a dream for the future. Wanting to setup once and do it right but money is a we bit restricted. Plan on keeping setup for a year or 2 atleast. Thanks Navarre...glad im not the only one using those fan heaters Im a bit worried its not the safest though and I may come home to fire works some day. For my insect rooms tbh. Fire box sounds interesting.

never tried them. maybe but i wouldnt bother. once they get a taste for greens they just eat them, mine often jump up and grab them out of my hand when they see em coming. Also into them pretty much straight away once added to the tank. In saying that they dont eat copius amounts they sorta just nibble have a few mouth fulls and theyre back to basking as they do. -

Theyre aways going to eat and need insects. They eat greens as a part of there diet and more and more so with age (and less insects) but it doesnt really replace the need for insects. Its really the wrong time of year to be planting seeds, wouldnt hurt to try but will be slow if they grow at all. Seeds are cheap and go along way. Nasturtian (sp?) mustard, parsley, oregano from supermarket, clover from farmlands etc. Nasturtian only needs to be planted once and if it doesnt last the winter (frosts) should pop up again in spring. the rest i use/mentioned are weeds to so grow well. Alan do you buy dandilion leaves? or do you mean cheap as in free from the lawn Carrots not a staple vege imo mesculin or lettuce i dont rate highly either as its mainly just water and not much goodness to it + can give em the runs...thats just my opinion though. -

well said i feed crickets as staple, roaches every few days, mealworms maybe once a week, waxworms once a month if that. Salads more green leafy weeds (nasturtian leaves, mustard, clover etc) they love it. All my beardies have good appetites, i just chuck a cricket in if theyre hungry they will go fot it, it not then no more crickets and try again in the avo or tomorrow. Same with mealies i literally chuck it in so bd will see it. make em run up and down for it...they like the chase. With roaches you can hand feed them if only feeding them as a treat as only a couple here and there shouldnt make em too lazy .(rubber gloves are your friend) Or go out and buy a large plastic tub. Bigger the better. think mines 100 or so litre. and smear some vaseline around the top. add artificial grass to the bottom. Drop the beardie in there and let it have a run around with some roaches. -
Just wondering if these are still about, dont see any posts about them in recent times?

hmm just checked and the frame i used is 70x35mm (used in ceilings i think) good ideas aquatopia. Bds do try walk up and down trying to get out (occasionally) but theyre not that onto it to slide the doors, would be bad luck if they did. I often leave the doors open and go around other setups feeding out and bds dont try jump. Have forgotten to close the doors before  came back a couple of hours later and bd didnt seem to have noticed

think ive sent you this pic a while back chilli..anyway ply wood, 3x2 timber frame, floors i think was called hardi something? meant for tiles.. doors recycled perspex, bottom 3 levels have abit of 4x2 across the front - just gives the beardies abit more privacy so they dont feel theyre on a ledge (if that makes sence). vents and heat lamps from bunnings, 4 foot fluro from my old fish tank setup. its on wheels to - bunnings no plan i just made it up as i went along, still pretty happy with it..serves it purpose and 4 tanks in 1 saves alot of room.

If only it was that easy. Depends how many theyre eating, Ive never owned Water Dragons tbh. Crickets need a water source to survive, they can swim reasonably well to my surprise but still prone to drowning. Especially the smaller crickets. Can use carrot/potato for there water needs. Store in plastic bin with a couple of egg cartons. Should survive weeks like that as long as they always have fresh carrot etc. Ditto, my beardie tanks are the same. Nice and simple. Best to only feed what the dragons will eat. I just chuck one in, if the beardies hungry they go for it straight away, often make em do lengths. Chuck one cricket down one end as soon as that gobbled up chuck one down the other end, make em work for it they dont do much else but yea any uneaten crix best to be taken out to avoid them having a nibble on your dragons. By having a water source in the tank (salad even) will help prevent this but best to only feed what the dragons will eat. Keeps them keen to, if bugs always about they just become part of the funiture imo.

microworms, zucchini, cucumber, bbs, algae tabs. anything really, just in little amounts. Main thing Ive found with bns/gbas to get them breeding is having a good cave. I found driftwood with a hole drilled on a slight downward angle so eggs cant fall out if theyre not attached properly, worked a treat. The male wants to be able to spread his fins to grip onto the sides of the cave. This way hes secure and can decide who enters etc. normally bred or had eggs laid within a couple of days of adding a cave. Feeding bloodworms at night normally got mine breeding to. You can also pickup the cave with eggs and male and put into another tank if you like. theyre pretty hardy lil fish
