  1. not UV light they need UVB which produce the Vitamin D3 they need for their shell. best filter is an canister filter as they dont like current. and heating 1 watt per litre.

    Panda Cory's

good job keep us up to date :bounce: :bounce:
  3. yep cant agree more. goldfish is probably the most popular cold water and guppy is tropical. both very easy to breed but yet challenging in the way of breeding quality.
  4. what have u been able to breed so far? are u looking at any type of fish or a more specific breeds eg live bearer... most the time rare fish are rare cuz they are hard to breed but in the case of NZ we probably just cant get enough to breed
  5. that proves it they are the devil just had my last visit two days ago so i am all clear woohoo [me running out for fish shopping.]
  6. a little bit of algae never hurts no body. there is always some algae in the wild right
  7. little bit off the topic here how come when i quote ppl it just comes out with "Quote" but u guys can get it saying Wrote by.......?

u'll have better luck trying on the live breeder forum.
  10. me too , too bad about the regulators.
  11. yep or u can get the 50kg one for under $50 and they are perfect for tanks measuring 2 X 1 X 1foot which is $20 each from a tank maker greg in acukand. [PM me for his detail] one Jebo 9904 air pump [more than enough to run all 3 tanks] $20 and 3 double sponge filter $8 or single for $5 which u can get though barry at fishzone visit the site below for his detail. http://www.fishzone.co.nz/index.html u would be looking at no more than $154 for ur basic bare bottom tank set up. thats the cheapest way i came up with hope it helps
  12. they still sell the regulator with the pressure gage for the soda stream bottles on their web site. 6th from the top http://www.toolsonline.co.nz/html/engineering1.html
  13. of cause it would heat up the gravel which the works the same as those expensive under gravel heating lines and they dont even heat the tank. any chance of taking us thought making one of these caryl? maybe in the next issue of the magazine i heard so much about if so sign me up
  14. why do u choose to heat the tank this way? i am assuming is just heating the single tank as i know its used for multiple tank heating.
  15. is there really no way to fix this or just really really hard? my friend has a silver aro with drop eye and i am just wanting he help him out here.
  16. sorry i cant help in anyway but to cry with u
  17. but then again some people are born with both reproductive system but they only have one body.
  18. after reading caryl's miss fortune with the tank over heating and how some in the forum have came across the same "accident" [a story that i am sure has happened to many others too] i wonder how many people actually change their heater before the "accident" occurs? i myself change the heaters around every 2 to 3 years [when the inside of the heater starts looking funny with condensation/white spots...etc]
  19. just want to share this with other goldfish lovers like myself. the biggest gold fish on record. the picture above is when bruce got his guiness record at 15" he is since then grown another few inches and weighs roughly as much as a domestic cat here is a link to an article about bruce. http://www.goldfishconnection.com/artic ... parentId=2
  20. most probably yes he is trying to build a nest and it should look like this: and yes other fish can destroy it and its really up to u if u want to move them to another tank. fish always have a better chance at breeding in their own tank but if u dont want to have to have 30 odd little jars of male fighters then ur better off just letting them do their thing.
  21. i've seen red belly ones in kelly telton and didnt think they were that great. they hardly moved at all and when they were feeding it was pretty average. if ur getting it just for the feeding frenzy then u'll be sadly disappointed. IMO a tank full of brackish green spot puffers is a much more aggressive at feeding times.
  22. WOW nice find there spider. i can really see some java fern attached to that piece. keep us up dated at how it goes
