    NSW advice

i am not a salty but saw this on trade me which i thought would be helpful http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 153953.htm
  13. now if we only have petworld up Auckland
  14. i've never tried using flourish excel cuz of the cost and how much u need to use it. i thought 100ml [small bottle $14] only treats 90L. can anyone confirm this cuz if it just a capful per 200l then it sound like a good way to go. thanks
  15. i am baby sitting a small 12cm fire eel does that count i am feeding it blood worms and large brine shrimp. it comes right up to the surface and eats out of my hand. [i always thought they were nocturnal?]
  16. WOW they lived though 36 degrees tuff little buggers
  17. its no different from the small bags of brooklands peat u can get in the pet shops except ur find some chunks of bark here and there.
  18. just went and checked my bag of peat and its the Hauraki gold peat moss. i use it for both soften the water and spawning killi for a little while now with no prob. when softening water i put it in a media mesh bag then rinse it to get rid of the small fine stuff before putting it in the filter and when spawning killies i boil it first. works for me doesn't mean its the right stuff i guess. can someone confirm this?
  19. hariki gold peat moss in 40 and 80 litre yellow bags sold at most garden centres is the one u want. its only around $15 to $20 from memory.
  20. looks Fantastic good work spider
  21. i guess ur lucky that you haven't seen them before. once they start breeding they are almost impossible to get rid off. had an out door wine barrow with them in the attempt to get rid of them all i drain the barrow, scrubbed it clean, leave it to dry for a couple of days, soaked in 1% bleach solution and now two weeks later they are all back living in the water with the bleach [my guess been out in the sun all the bleach is gone] they are fine until u want to breed egg scatters in what their in as they eat all the eggs

    greetings

you've got some awesome fish there welcome :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  23. its probably been chased because its the only female [these breed like crazy in a well planted tank] it would only solve the problem if u get a couple more female in ur next lot of purchase of silver tips. if u end up getting 3 more male....
  24. it most probably wandering snail [Lymnaea peregra] thats the most common snail. if u look closely they have brown patches on their shell
  25. yep i totally agree with that one i raise two turtle with absolutely no heater or light and they are both over 11 and healthy with no shell abnormality. [they do get basking area with direct sunlight] but do keep in mind that in the wild they breed just before summer so they all that time to grow and prepare for winter and if u buy one now from the pet shop its most probably couple of month old and i would suggest a heater just to last it for the winter. yep had a talk with the biosecurity ppl about that subject and if they do pass the ban it would be early next year.not only would they be ban for sale also swap trade of gifted away. the only reason they are not banned yet is there is no evidence that they are able to reproduce in our water ways.
