the whole point for me to hatch BBS is to have small live food wouldn't it be cheaper to buy frozen ones if ur just goin to freeze them anyway?

i use the a tea strainer but I know a few people use coffee strainer and stockings. i use a small container with air bubbles pumping in it but most people use the up side down coke bottle method. how does everyone hatch theirs?

yes, that is a bit pricey for "sucky fish" but good deal on breeding oscars though.

do u mean "oats" WOW i was unaware u were the one that created oats but then again now that u mention it i do taste a bit of goat in my porridge still some part of me is hopping for a merical to see this actually happen emagin the possiabilitys if we could cross them hummmm..... guppy sized discus or better a discus size guppy

good point i was thinking more if the hose is coming from above the tank its sucking the water out at the rate of the pump but if the hose is though a hole at the lower part of the tank all the weight of the water would rush in to the filter system it self causing it to leak or burst. never actually had a tank running like that before so just what i think would happen that's all. no direct attack at u Ira sorry if i offended u :oops:

totally agree with Ira its not worth the hassle but don't agree with no stress as i am assuming u would have the filter lower than the tank there for a lot of water pressure straight to the filter. i run a Aqua One 1200 on my 5 foot [1500x600x600mm] i know my filter does not have the strongest seal on it and with around 500litre of water pressure it would leak for sure unless ur using a non conventional external filter.

nice one coleman saw them just last weekend and they moved all the gravel to the sides covering them self from the shop. would love to have some too bad they need such big space on their own. i've posted another topic their seem to be someone selling these claiming his is a miniature breed, personally never heard of such a breed anyone know any info on the matter? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 742791.htm

someone is selling jaguar cichlids of the miniature kind which supposedly only grow to 20-25cm. i've never heard of an dwarf jaguar cichlid breed but seen a full grown one around that size cuz it was stunted in growth, anyone know any info on this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 742791.htm

has anyone tried this? http://www.mreed.com/fryfoods.shtml or anything else used as a substitution for baby brine shrimp. i personally found there is nothing like BBS but found it annoying to hatch as i only breed fresh water fish and have to strain it before feeding but lately been hatching it using tonic salt and seem to work and i am able to just dump the lot in water and all. [hatch rate seems a lot lower though]
