  1. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 050227.htm has anyone tried this or something similar perhaps. what do u guys think of it?
  2. yep someone has been here couple of month ago. cant find the thread with the search been out of service but there is some kind of heat pad that goes underneath the tanks and could run several at once depending on the size of pad and tank of cause.
  3. yep had my first visit about 4 weeks ago and they did pretty much the same thing. two weeks later got a phone call and they came back took some what is classified as pest plant in couple of my out door ponds and any plantation that has been in contact with those plants. so wrote me an warning note and put my large pond under a restriction [i am not allowed to put or remove anything from the pond. [penalty up to 5 year imprisonment/ $200 000 fine or both ] keep me on my toes. had my check up just late last week and i've got one more in the end of the month till the restriction is lifted. [thats where our tax money is goin  ]
  4. looks like a tumour, some of my gold fish in the pond develop small tumors from time to time but usually disappears with no real treatment. if it is a tumour it wont be an health issue and to my knowledge u'll need to cut it off if u think its a blister with full of fluids try epson salt half a teaspoon per 50L
  5. thats awesome smcoleman didnt take then long at all. they must love that 5 foot tank
  6. nothing beats bristlenose for algae control. if want to try something different why not try some fancy types like GBA ect... Ira is right Cories don't eat algae.
  7. hello and welcome :bounce: :bounce: 1st. the filter is usually fine on the top and coarse at the bottom. so its sound like u got it right. [ u must be reading the thread on the large externals which comes with bio balls and noodles] 2nd. light should be around 12 hours i have my set for 13 starting at 9am to 10pm. 3rd. when setting a tank up usually avoid sunlight which is more then likely causing ur algae problem but a couple of bristlenose would take care of that. hope that helps. enjoy the site
  8. looks fantastic need more light? or just the way the picture turn out. either way looks great.
  9. i had the white fluff on a piece of bog wood once [just a little bit] just left it and recently put a couple of large bristlenose in and the male ate it that was about a week ago.
  10. i am sorry for ur lost i dont think any of us here can really help but simpathise and i have had oranda stolen from my pond before so i know the feeling.
  11. yes pixiejanet one day we'll go to his place knock him out and take over the tank muhhahahahaaaaaa.....
  12. got my in Kings Plant Barn but u should find it in most garden centre like mitre 10/mega, palmers, bunnings..... they are sold per meter and its used for attaching to fences for climbing plants like a trellis.
  13. the stuff ur talking about is shade cloth/windbrake ? why not try fine plastic mesh they sell them off the roll too and its already stiff enough. i just cut to the size i want and gently heat them with a heat gun [some reason when they harden again they become alot stiffer]

    heaters

most of them turns off once reached the desired temperature. make sure its set in the tank where there is a lot of water circulation and use a thermometer on the other side of the tank to check if its doin its job. u mite find there not broken at all, if they are get new ones as they are so cheap now $18 for a 300watt jebo
  18. hello!!!! i am sorta new.
  19. dang dang dang dang just managed to read the whole thread and for the anyone that is goin to do the same the ones worth reading starts with a guy called spazz [red head icon] then around the 12th page Lunchbucket takes over then couple of more pages the owner comes out and he is call Energy. it's really something incredible
  20. i use Hauraki Peat that comes in the big yellow bags 80Litre bags cost around $10. they have them in both kings Plant Barn and Palmers. don't know if u get these garden centres where u are though :-?
  21. looking fantastic. great looking piece of drift wood really made the tank is that ricca on it or moss? what is the carpeting grass, dwarf hair grass or just the normal type.
  22. ur probably putting her in to the breeding trap too early and stressing her out making her deliver early causing the still birth. it has happen to me several time.
  23. i was only manage to see one photo :-? looking good how many tanks is it goin to hold? i am assuming they are all goin to be small tanks 30 x 20 x 20cm since its a killi room
  24. yep they will just keep on breeding and breeding and breeding and ....... ur unlikely to see any deformity from inbreeding for a few generations as line breeding is pretty much inbreeding for the right colour and pattern. when left in a well planted tank ur soon find ur self with 100s of these guys and just drop new a male or female in every now and then to keep up the multi colouration that's if ur just having them in a community tank.
