    Gobies

Hands just bought some very cool glass gobies http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/our-ne ... 14645.html
  2. first u work out the volume if the tank is an ordinary shape with the total length of the tank [front to back] then take away the volume of the corners by working out its volume if they were a small rectangle shape by putting them together. then walla here is the basic idea [all done in cm] back length X total length front to back x height \ 1000 = total volume back length - front length = length of triangle front total length front to back - side length = length of triangle side now two triangle of the same size makes a rectangle or square. so.... length of triangle side x length of triangle front x height = volume of both triangle total volume - volume of both triangle = volume of actual tank i know their is a more simple way but the answer will be the same.
  3. 94.04 litres if filled to the top with no gravel
  4. i'll need the length from back to front and then i'll show u. its going to be around 100 litres
  5. i am pretty sure chlorine dont just evaporate u'll need to leave it in the sun or use some sort of carbon filter.
  6. u had a 1500 litre tank?
  7. even with ur jags breeding?
  8. well i am not part of that half, i have families there
  9. ouh that make more sence. just clean ur filter pads in it and dump all ur dirty tank water too.
  10. why would u want pond snail? they do nothing but create mess and eat all the eggs if the fish are spawning. rams horn are one of the better ones as they actually do some cleaning.
  11. u can get liquid prazi in NZ not sure how much or where but know that a few discus breeders has them.
  12. from what i gather its been serious mind u it was published in 1973 by the USA
  13. is should reach around 30cm in less then 6 month. u dont see the growth cuz u see it everyday but it will creep up on ya just like children
  14. that's one way of doing it i guess. with me small fish become feeders and i treat the large ones till the last minute which sometimes pays off. here is an small chapter out of a book i got called "starting right with goldfish" by Robert Gannon published in 1973 [DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING!!] Chapter 9 How To Kill Your Fish Quick - Feed them so much u can see food lying on the bottom of the tank, moldering. In the same way, allow dead fish to stay in the tank until they disintegrate. And never syphon off excrement, of course. You can tell when things are going well if the sand becomes gray of black, if the water is cloudy and if the aquarium smells. -if the above fails, put a few fresh-water mussels into the tank bottom. They'll die shortly and quickly pollute the aquarium -Allow guest to flick cigarette ashes into the tank for for quick poisoning. Also, use metallic piping which will rust and corrode. Another good way to poison fish is to let a "marble" type aquarium rust around the top so brownish streaks run down to the water edges. If you have a rust -proof stainless steel tank, adjust your air releaser to splash up against the rustable light reflector. -During the heat of summer, chill the fish by pouring ice water into the tank. the above i thought is funny since its out of a real book but obviously all are WRONG DO NOT DO THE ABOVE what i also found funny is "releaser" and "rustable" aren't even real words
  15. they sound like very interesting fish. what size are they at the moment?
  16. WOW very cool looking fish. sorry cant help u with any info never seen them before but i would assume they are brackish same as bumblebee?
  17. how do u spawn urs? do u do them is pairs, small/large groups.....
  18. so no real way of getting rid of these fellas but to use human bait. hummm..... the school kids idea is sounding better everyday . will post if i do manage to find a way. thanks
  19. as long as there is an area where the turtle came come out of the water and be completely dried off it should be fine. spot feed ur turtle and make sure its well fed and it will leave ur fishies alone. unlike fish the turtle will not eat once its full. u will need some carbon in ur filter as turtles discrete a lot of urine. i've keep all sorts of fish with turtles and works fine just doing the above.
  20. should start to hatch in a couple of days. i am very interested to see what the baby come out like.
  21. are u talking about dropsy? was the scales sticking out like a pine cone cuz its different.

    Big Blue Fish

    stunning looking fish
  23. i'll think i'll give that a miss as there a quit a bit of them in a reasonable size pond i imagine it would take ages. just a couple of ranunculus lingua [which has since then pretty much died only a small plant of them remaining] and a iris versicolor if they only suck warm blood does that mean my gold fish are safe?
