    T8 v T5

on a 30cm deep tank ur not goin to find too much different between the T5 and T8. IMO one is not better than the other but simply what is better for the job, T5 has a higher wattage per foot compare to T8 and has deeper penetration with a wider spread which is better if u have a deep tank.
  2. i am with plantman on this one. R. indica and .R roundifolia are two different plants, besides from leaf shape difference indica has solitary flowers as to roundifolia has clusters. R. roundifolia and R. rotundifolia are the same. either way first pic is differently not R.wallichii at least not like any i've ever seen anywhere.
  3. easy once they get older in breeding season/environment.
  4. never heard of that one but they do seem to be moving that way.
  5. what about just an air pump? ur be hard to beat the circulation that an air pump gives out and good bacteria grows on every in the tank.
  6. still no positive ID huh. maybe try posting on PF?
  7. if it's well planted u wont even need one.
  8. just listen carefully and u should hear where the air is getting in. i had an aquaone where the "top up cap" [small twist cap that locks at the top] was letting in air.
  9. like repto said its nothing that good up keeping and shedding over time wont cure. only suggestion is to buy ur self a heater protector.
  10. hay gatito did u know ur turtle has a terrible case of shell rot? since u only had him for couple of month i am guessing he came like that.
  11. like most plant keepers i mostly use 6500K but i have a couple with 10000K and i much prefer the look.
  12. why not run them in the tanks they're going to be used for and add water from established tanks. mite not be the fastest way but maybe the cleanest?

    new web site

so is NZMAS goin to merge with reefers world? or just another forum altogether?
  15. depending on the breeding some grow much larger therefore will get their bristles at a bigger size.
  16. i mean there is a slight pump, opposite to concave
  17. no pics sorry. and no, both sex are the same thats why it so hard. this is the rule: if the plastron is concave or it has a sharp V cut out than its a male. if it has a pump plastron and a U cut out than its a female but if it has a flat plastron and a U cut than it can be either but most probably a female.
  18. far out, alright blue whats the secret in breeding ancistrus. they look great, are they always this pale in color with dark out line? let us know what they are if u find out.
  19. just check the plastron, male are slightly concave and have a sharper V cut out just before the tail. female has flat or slight pump and a more U shape cut out. do i make sense?
  20. how is the Myriophyllum robustum doin? its a beauty.
  21. gosh sorry clipper but i cant help u out, ur set up seems great and the behavior is complete opposite of what i was going to have solutions for. helpfully someone here can help u but may pay to seek professional help. good luck with ur little one.
  22. keep us up to date, even with the algae ur plants look nice and healthy and really like the use of wood and rocks
  23. i see what u mean, using PMDD to help the plants grow which in return uses phosphate and starving the algae of it. i would think u need more plants in this tank to achieve that. couple of my heavy planted tanks i do use KH2PO4.
  24. yikes indeed. wasnt expecting it to go any higher than the $505 bid. looks like the winner either had big breeding plans or is just a frog nut
