  1. i am not sure how feeding the algae with PMDD would help them to die off. or am i missing something? :-?
  2. the pic in the link above is a bit deceiving as its not blue but a grey/green colour. ask ur LFS but i dont think its on the list anymore. post a want in the private trade section and u may get lucky as i know a few on here bought them in large groups which may have breed.
  3. hmmmm... kind of confused here, now what size are they, size tank they live in and is the tank heated?. when u say he tries to bite his own neck, does he turn his head or pulls it back? also when he uses his front leg is he rubbing the neck or the side of this mouth?
  4. yes we do, there was a huge shipment in not too long ago.
  5. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=94857337
  6. cant find the link but someone on this forum has one similar
  7. on the auction it says 1-1.5cm so i wont worry about them getting sucked in to filters or anything.
  8. not a prob. depends on what the size tank/pond ur talkin about. if it has large open top than oxygen shouldn't be a problem so either will be fine. let just say adding a air pump certainly doesn't hurt and if u have one laying around handy i would use it.
  9. unless u've breed goldfish and know what ur looking for it takes time before u notice the deformity. most pet shops only really buy from trust worthy breeders and only 3cm+ fish. unfortunately some pet shops do buy and sell nymphs.
  10. i would say probably all of them will be, look closely at the picture i can hardly see any double tail and the ones that may be dont look like a very good spread and split. also for 5-1/5 week old goldfish fry they are very very tiny.
  11. nymph in terms of goldfish basically means deformed or undesirable. some ppl think lion head/ryukin is just oranda with out an dorsal fin which is not really the case. years of selective breeding has been done to get these fish they way they are and even though they're all the same in terms of specie, they're two very different variety. of cause if ur planning to create ur own "variety" then this is where u will start. its like breeding an yellow cobra guppy with an sold red guppy and expect to get red cobra guppy with some of both which just doesn't happen, instead ur probably get all wild types or very weird mix. does that make sence :-?
  12. hate to tell u this but no doubt most of them will be nymphs with that type of cross. but all they need is plenty of food [up to 4 times a day at this stage], plenty of space to grow and clean water.
  13. both does the same thing just different connection for different filters. if ur looking at using on a canister u'll need the first one.
  14. yep, more like an add on. i have the same one running on a turtle tank and its fantastic.
  15. yes i did breed ranchus as well but its hard as they i get mostly nymphs at this stage. they have bigger cheeks rather than big heads. ranchu oranda i've PMd u with the address.
  16. yes, they need to have the head growth to classify as an oranda, otherwise it would just be an fantail yes and yes yes, its comes down to genetics and diet.
  17. IMO thats why it went as high as it is. albino is easy enough to get, rare but not unheard of. this is once in a life time really and with the right breeding u can get black eyed golden frogs.
  18. ok which one of ya created a new trademe account and bid $300
  19.  some reason the first link took me to a tank that has nothing but couple of plants in pots and surface covered in duckweed. man was i confused. thanks for the second link Ira
  20. is it a bare bottom tank and u just have plants in pots? or ur talking about the little pots that some plants come in on purchase? if its the second one then most ppl actually remove them from the pot and rock wool before planting them when first bought
  21. i am pretty sure two foot tubes dont go pass 22watt just go to any electrical/hardware place and they will have a selection [placemakers, bunnings, mitre 10........etc] most of them will have a kelvin rating so aim for around 6500K or like Caryl said Bright White or Daylight.
