  1. Very cute, sending you heaps of good luck vibes with this lot Faran.. so you can replace that male with one of his own
  2.  Oh sorry... but I am picturing that whole thing... the clowns are beggars for that, alot of other loaches are to
  3. Just asked hubby and they can spare about roughly 20.. bags, he will have to count them tomorrow, and you are more than welcome to them for free If you are able to pay postage I can send them through And Frenchy we have done the same thing with those bins with wheels, they are awesome
  4. Hiya Frenchy The last lot that came on consignment should be rather big now, my guys are around the 5 inch mark, and from that same consignment... so that's why I questioned the lot that are there now.. cause if they are left overs from the last consignment and small, then they sure as hell have been stunted with growth through lack of feeding, so I assumed they could have been privately bred and someone has sold the shop some young ones??...
  5. I agree big drums or containers are the best best.. however if stuck, we have also used very large thick plastic industrial type bags for oscars etc... They are out at my hubbys work (LFS) These bags are brilliant, I will try and see if I can get you some and post them if you like? Anyway, let me know
  6. Hey Joze Have you got another shot, as it is showing up dark on my screen, can't see detail of tank in pic..
  7. Oh ok, if they are from last consignment brought in (left overs), they should be pretty big by now, mine are rather large now, from the same lot..
  8. Sorry to hear of the family loss aswell And yeah I can only imagine the frustration and sadness of losing the male.. Some things are so testing in life aren't they, especially with the effort you put into your Plecs.. I hope you get a nice male out of the lot you are yet to raise
  9. So sorry to hear you lost your boy Faran :(
  10. I haven't got anything like that Frenchy (link pics).. what do they look like to you.. And yeah the Lithos are little chow hounds
  11. I think it comes down to personal preference But to start up, alot of people start with livebearers, ie, guppies and swordtails etc... And tank size, well I wouldn't go too small, I would recommend about a 3fter.... JMO
  12. Here a link to a few pics of young Lithobates that I have bred from the last lot of stock that came in on consignment... http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o304/micdaf/Lithobates/ I am picking the Lithos that are in the shop now are privately bred?? I haven't seen Lithos on the list for a while.. Anyway heres the link above of my little fatso's...
  13. Welcome Great to see you have joined the forum, you will love it here Looking forward to hearing about your new tank... then it will no doubt go from 1, to 2... next 3.....
  14. Yeap definately community fish.. They are actually pretty placid
  15. They are pretty laid back, you will often notice them changing colour with moods or when frightened, my guy is a little sulky at times, but cruises around the tank peering around everywhere and he loves to shuffle little pebbles along with his nose, very nice little fish I have mine in with Geophagus and other South Americans..
  16. Sometimes Rainbow Sharks can make more of a nuisance of themselves than some species of Africans.....
  17. They will be buggered if anyone goes into the store wanting either species if they can't identify them, I don't think stores should order fish in if they don't have any clue, not just Afs, that goes for many fish... Sorry I don't know of any females... not sure on anyone else? Guys??
  18. Oh.. I am glad you meant the Oscar.... rather him than me
  19. Hahahahaha we have had a recent discussion on that one huh Frenchy  I was given some really tiny supposed Fryeri... too small to tell really whats what, and as they developed they had the "spots" Frenchy mentioned.. so I thought hmm not like my first lot of true Fryeri I have.... So thanks Frenchy.. I had a good weed out  Oscar shall be happy..
  20. There used to be a LFS here in Napier (closed rather a while ago now) who had a beautiful corner tank made out of perspex... Cost an arm and a leg to make, with materials etc but the guy that did it, made a fantastic job and it looked very nice! I know the person that has the tank now due to shop closing and he has Mbuna in it, looks wicked
  21. According to information I have read, they are different fish... Midas Cichlid (Amphilophus citrinellus) Red Devil (Amphilophus labiatus) This is going by what I have read, and no they aren't hybrids
  22. I have made some changes to it recently, so will have to post some recent pics
