  1. I had a group of 8 and what busy little beavers they were at feed time, they don't need a huge tank.. they do prefer softer substrate tho as they are burrowers... They often come out at night to feed, however, mine used to come out with lights dimmed on the tank... They are fantastic, would never overlook them!
  2. Beautiful!!!!!!!! I can't say much more than that, please keep us updated with pics!
  3. Yeah I normally go for the natural look fully but the pots are used for a purpose.. and the Mbuna seem alot happier... so that's all that matters to us They seem alot more settled and to be honest I am to, the pots are a strong structure point for caving and to be honest, I am not wanting to lose another fish due to cave in's and I don't want to have to silicon the limestone rocks due to the fact I may want to strip out at a later date if need be.
  4. Heya It is aragonite substrate, with mostly limestone rock with slate and the odd riverstone.. as rock formation.
  5. Containers etc are the best way, especially the ones Frenchy mentioned on wheels, but if all else fails, the big thick industrial bags out at my hubbys work are awesome, have had great success shifting large fish in them, and they are very strong. So there is more than ONE way
  6. Sorry to hear that shadowfax Maybe she had some internal injuries?
  7. The good thing with the Robocan with natural pyrethrins, is you don't need to be spraying a heap of fly spray around and choking on it, it's a natural preventative to stop flies coming in, so there are no flies to spray
  8. Awesome Faran and what a bonus you have a new boy on the way
  9. Background was bought.. especially moulded rock formation.. and watch those pingas fly out of your wallet  And yeah I have piping.. but have used most of it in the garden for things.. And I wasn't allowed to disturb it
  10. Well you have to buy the overall dispenser etc, not sure how much it was.. then the refills are around $20 mark.. but they last around two months
  11. Mitre 10 Mega.. any store like that
  12. Oh and get the can with Green lid and writing.. that's the 100% pyrethrins.. don't go the industrial strength, that has an additive.. (that one has the black lid etc) Blue and Green are safe, but I go green as that's the 100% natural pyrethrin.
  13. Thanks guys.. we decided to go terracotta as decided it was safer for the fish, rather than just straight limestone rock as structure for caves, I learnt my mistake big time when we found our big Blue Dolphin Boy crushed to death under a rock formation that had collapsed.. at least the terracotta pots are strong and you can build around them... I am sure my hubby will come home tonight expecting that I have come up with something that needs to be changed

    Demasoni

     @ Caryl
  15. I use a Robocan natural pyrethrins... works wonders! My refill ran out and hello flies starting to come in, once replaced... the flies didn't enter through our ranch slider, almost like there was a invisible barrier  definately works, that definately put things to the test, and it's 100 percent safe with animals, tanks etc...
  16. Yeah Mincie, good idea, more cichlids 8) And GZ, bugger the picture on the wall, I never bother looking at it, have better things to look at   But thanks for bringing it to my attention, it would have been knocked when revamping tank
  17. Here is our Malawi Display Tank.. 700 litres plus.. finally got it finished off, thinned out the fish I needed for other breeding set ups and have left my grow out display boys in this one... We finished it off yesterday, yet to finish topping it up, ran out of energy  My books are getting neglected.. as this tank is at the bottom of our bed in our bedroom... So each night, I'm fixed on watching my babies before lights out  And I get to wake up to them in the morning *blissful sigh* Might need a bit of fine tuning here and there, but overall we are happy with it.
  18. Sorry this is late, but welcome to the forums You will love it here

    Demasoni

If you don't manage to snag any, I have Demasoni coming out of my ears.. I have the first lot set aside for people but the lots to come are available..
  20. Melafix should be fine, I did some quick reading on the net and others overseas have used Melafix with Pictus, and hopefully your cat will be fine and dandy enough to come right Melafix promotes healthy tissue regrowth, specifically for healing wounds.. Some choose to use a salt bath, which is another option, however, I have never had to use this method..

    Sumps are excellent
  22. I agree with fishboi, Melafix might just do the trick, I remember seeing a picture of an Oscar that I would have sworn was on it's last fins.... It was ripped to pieces.. amazing what Melafix did in 5 days, after seeing those pics, I wouldn't be too hasty in putting it down.. You can only but try Good Luck!
  23. Awesome Paul!!! :bounce: Bet you are over the moon
