personally i would leave it for a few days until the eggs have hatched. then resume water changes, but do them slowly so as not to shock the fry.

when i use bbs i dont bother rinsing them. they get rinsed when i put them in the tank.

not a great deal to do here really. nice beach to go to, hm thats about it really. go to wonderworld in rotorua on your way. depending on when you are here there may be a few bands playing if you like that sort of thing? only other thing i can think of is fishing . worth going for a drive round the coromandel on your way to auckland if you havent been there before. have a great trip

sorry to say but most would consider that tank far too small for 8 discus, i would go with no more than 3 or 4. even then you will be doing a lot of water change. dont want to be negative, but its easier to hear it from someone else rather than learn the hard way. its very discouraging when your beautiful discus start dropping off one by one, for what seems like no good reason. on a positive note, if you end up with a pair, your tank will be a good size to breed in(the discus i mean)

i will be there on the 4th, as well as my brother in law. would be great to have a list of jobs to be done, so that we know what to bring. we can bring building gear, but may also be able to bring other stuff as well if necessary.

i have done it a number of times. half full is too much water tho, i usually leave about an inch of water, and just leave the catfish etc in there. too hard to find the banjos carry the tank on a thick piece of ply or similar that will support the bottom. you can pick up a big bucket from the warehouse for not much, so that you can take your water with you, also good to put the discus and rams in.
