  1. hey mr skz, i was talkin about the third pic down, the 1 with the dorsal fin up, and black at the start of it. the femal also goes very yellow like that when ready 2 spawn or when lookin after babies. but as u say time will tell ay as ive had some that were bought as females an a week later theyre well an truly males. pm me with ur email addy and ill send u some pics to compare if ya want
  2. your suspected male cockatoo looks like a female 2 me, male usually has dorsal fin that sticks right up at front like a mohawk, as soon as i work out how 2 put a pic of some of mine i will. still what a bargain ay? cockatoos round here are usually $35-40 each!
  3. hey aaron, im also in tga(papamoa)welcome 2 the forums are u selling your corys? theres not that much selection round here, all i see is bronze and peppered. if u are please pm me cheers, duncan
  4. hey caper, i used to have this problem with my hang on filter as well- i ended up replacing most of the media with ceramic noodles and just 1 coarse sponge. this used to do the damage as nothingelse would. u just have to do it gradually to keep bacteria levels up u could trylifting your sponges etc up a little bit to allow water to flow underneath- this is a temporary measure though wouldnt really bother unless u think its gonna overflow! i have since got rid of that filter and bought an external canister- got sick of fiddling with it anyway, good luck
  5. thanks alan i have a via aqua external filter do i take all media out and wash? cheers
  6. hey everyone, got home tonight to find that my son had turned off my tank some time this morning  anyone got any advice as im sure it hasnt done the filter bacteria much good- i reckon it was probably off 4 7-8 hours would appreciate all ya input cheers, duncan
  7. hey skate, i would also suggest finding a new fish shop? some places will just sell u any thing and every thing they can.when i started out i was sold a clown knife and told yea it will be fine in a 60l comunity tank... every day i woke up to 1 or 2 less fish - wasnt really choosy either, ate guppies, neons, even a small tiger barb!! maybe someone else from gizzy could tell u where to get some advice instead of sheel b right?
