  1. His details are also here - viewtopic.php?f=24&t=42159
  2. Some key points about cooking duck: The breast and thigh/leg portions should be treated differently in the cooking process. The breast is best pan fried and served slightly pink, while the leg and thigh need to be cooked longer. Braising and steaming particularly work well. Whole duck is especially good for long, slow cooking. Don't expect to be able to cook a duck like a chicken - its parts need more individual attention. Start your duck journey by cooking breast or thigh/leg rather than a whole duck. The vast majority of the meat is found in these portions and because duck is quite rich, a little goes a long way. from: http://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/feat ... for-a-duck Oooohhh, this one sounds good - could use jam instead of quince stuff? http://www.wildcountry.co.nz/ideas.php? ... b91f4beb74
  3. Some other clubs must have had their AGM's by now?
  4. The details are in your Yearbook, but basically... Categories are: Aquarium - Tropical Freshwater Tropical Marine Cold Water Max 4 mins Tank dimensions must be displayed in the bottom left hand corner of the tank, this may be removed after the first viewing. Overall view first, then zoom in and pan across the tank, NOT focusing on any specific fish, then pan back again unless all the tank can be seen on zoom. Pan again a couple of times, then zoom out to focus on the whole tank again. Fish - Tropical Freshwater Tropical Marine Cold Water Max 2 mins A fish may be in a tank on its own or in a community tank, as long as it can be seen clearly for the stated time. BOTH sides of the fish must be seen during the filming. A ruler or piece of paper that clearly shows graduations up to 10 cm should be affixed to the bottom of the tank. All videos may be edited. All videos may be VHS or CD/DVD format. This is a club based competition, and only one entry per category per club is allowed, these may be combined on one tape/CD/DVD but must be separate chapters and not run together continuously. If there are multiple entries for the same category for one club, the club must decide which entry/s to submit. All entries must have the club and submitter/s names on it for each category. Phew - I think that is about it!
  5. They are all just as bad, they are pretty tolerant of hands in the tank, and will hang around for a feed, but as soon as you stick the vacuum pipe in there and they all shoot off onto the bushes! Must be related to the cat?
  6. Hmmmm... Are you going to enter a vid for the Conference competition? There is a Coldwater and a Tropical category - and a trophy as well.
  7. Have you tested the ph of your tap water? I lost a heap of CPD's after a water change due to the ph difference after a water change, they were gasping around the top with their noses up and tails down.
  8. You could go for male only fish as a display tank.
  9. Pity about the snails and algae
  10. Whatever you do, do not use one of those abrasive scrubbing pads - like the Scotchbrite ones, they will scratch the glass.
  11. Ummm, how many rums have you had, Phoenix? I was thinking of turfing my WCMM out of my 38l and trying some freshwater puffers - but then I will have to put my wee corys somewhere else...
  12. *pssst, LA, what's a bobber?
  13. One of my work colleagues was saying that down in Christchurch there has been an upsurge of damage to glass surfaces in public areas with tungsten or diamond tipped tools because of the difficulty in buying spray cans.
  14. Wait until the turt connects with some flesh - then it will get interesting...
  15. Why do they leave their legs sticking out of the tunnel?

    Love the bunch of clowns!
  18. There were some banded pipe fish Doryhamphus dactyliophorus in our LFS on the weekend - do they require the same type of care?
  19. Ummm... I would answer but Sam would growl at me for trying to put you off again...
  20. It is not just the diameter of the end, it is what sort of thread it is as well.
  21. You can get food grade C02, this is what they fill the Sodastream canisters with.
  22. The cake looks good enough to eat - well, maybe minus the 'candle' though... One spoilt looking bird there!
