  1. Recommendation for metro dosing was one 400mg tab per 40 litres 25% water change and redose daily, also conbine with course of prazi if avaliable.

    Hutt Pets

Yeah Hutt pets is one of the better shops down there Ben's awesome and very approachable if you want stuff or if you see a sick fish or want to comment on how to help out hes keen to listen... I get the impression its all new but have also heard rumours that its going to be expanding big time including marines and a heap of new tanks etc so should be good
  5. Sweet as sounds good then no costs at this stage will sort out membership and stuff if we decide theres enough people.. You could bring some bickies or something to snack on but im sure were going to have enough for everyone but dont have any idea how many people will show.
  6. Do they move at all? On another note are you planning to come to the meeting tomorrow I can show you my white worm cultures they're not doing very well at the moment (cuz I keep forgetting to feed them) but may give you some idea.
  7. Yeah but it wont rust The oxide layer forms very fast and protects it.. I would be more inclined to use stainless grill as you can still get water flow..
  8. no need for portable dvd players in our house we have 4 tv's and 4 dvd players including 2 ps2's so kids can be entertained very easily
  9. aluminium wont rust thats why they use it for boats and the like..
  10. I feed mine anything I can find
  11. I have had fish in the fine net ones.. The fish dont fit through it but they do get killed as the bigger fish try to eat them crushing them against the net.. ANd how are your fish farmchick? did the 8ft for your sister go alright?
  12. Yeah its awesome to hear they're breeding for him THey look impressive thats for sure..
  13. All my filters have been second hand and all of them are sweet I only got them cuz they were cheap and most of them are the newer models so parts still avaliable..
  14. Yeah your second comment was more directed as advice not as an order or instructions.. And i dont think anyone came out and abused you personally but everyone seemed to be commented on the way you said stuff and the way it made everyone feel when reading it as everyones said the advice itself was great and good to take on board..
  15. yeah your rams are awesome Karen, make sure you save me some if they get to free swimming

    Hi all

Hey Jewel, glad to see you finally introduce yourself Are we still going to see you this weekend?
  18. lol awesome was going to ask if you were showing up this weekend
  19. I didn't think they would be maybe i just got bad ones.. But they looked fine when i got them I did plenty of water changes the last pair I had died when they were in the same tank as discus and the discus are fine so who knows! Wasn't water conditions if the discus are ok and they had heaps of water changes.
  20. Yeah ive tried several times, I even had free swimming fry one time.. But always lost the parents always the same way no matter what I did regarding water changes etc.
  21. And if it was me I wouldn't be offended I would jump on and say sorry people took it the wrong way and explain what I meant and maybe edit the post and all good
  22. Personally I wouldn't try and clean them out the chemicals can soak into the plastic and leech out gradually either line them or get clean ones.. As to where to get them from I have no idea maybe go through the phone book and contact local catering companies or something like that?
  23. I dont think anyone has a problem with the advice its the way it was put through.. Maybe if it started and ended differently it would have been better ie: "I have just setup a big tank and thought I would offer some advice to new people about things to consider.... ...Also people in rental properties should consult their landlord and also consider potential damage to property IMO people should wait until they purchase thir own homes."
  24. Ok this is random lol coming out of the blue and playing mother to people telling them what they can and cant do? Sounds a bit random if your flatting and you buy a huge ass tank and nobody or the landlords like it you'll get kicked out.. If your at home your parents will likely tell you its too big if you didn't ask them first.. And in both cases you'll mostly need either of their help to move it into the house especially if your still at home. Either way if people are setting up a big tank they will know how much it costs and the implications etc of it. I also rent my house and ive got 4 tanks around 540litres and about 15 others around the place so no worries about that and yes ive just moved form Auckland it was hard but no reason for me not to have tanks. I guess this is just a polite way of saying that people will do what they want with their money and learn if they happen to make a mistake.
