  1. What type of tank are they in? If they're in a community no babies will live so no need to worry about it..
  2. Yeah he does sound like a character My firemouths were soft compared to that..
  3. Maybe your removing the female too soon?
  4. I think you looked at them when you were out blue and thoguht they should be fine but yeah might try the sand stone..
  5. I dont really care about how it looks it wont look that bad, the 2 chips pictured are different ones on the front edge but the same depth so the one that shows the depth is the same for both.. Should I even do anything to them or just leave them alone and fill it?
  6. Its 5 x 2 x 2 ft so pretty big holds around 540litres.. A bit more difficult for me to take it ouside and find somewhere suitable to test fill it.. Also a potentail for a nice mess in the house if it were to let go..
  7. When I moved from Auckland to Bulls ages and ages ago the movers chipped my tank and I assumed it was too badly chipped to fill.. Have had a few people around since then and they've all told me it should be sweet and to fill it which I was going to do today im still a bit worried about it all though so ive taken some pics which should show the extent of the damage and ill ask around here.. There are 2 chips on the front RH corner (well 3 but ones really tiny so pictured the worst 2) And 2 on the bottom RHS.

Yeah when I come to look at the cichlids section although I only keep African cichlids ive kept all sorts of others dwarfs south amercans etc so still keen to catch up on that sort of thing or help out if I can..

Personally I dont think there is much point in doing it.. Due to the number of posts in the cichlid section, but thats just my opinion lol most likely everyone will disagree
  10. Id say steal some media from one of yoru other tanks (doesn't have to be much) and chuck the angels in.. keep an eye on the water conditions in there but a pair of angels shouldn't make too much mess in a 4ft tank maybe take it easy on the food for a week or so.
  11. Could be some sort of red shoulder peacock.. is it just starting to colour up?
  12. You can also do a bit of salt (but im sure you already add that to your tank) and when the africans have had that I have dropped tonic or meth blue straight onto the fungus/eye and the fungus has fallen off..
  13. Never seen it.. but going over to aussie soon and may bring some back
  14. I know nothing about killies but I would just dump a heap of java moss in and some green water or daphnia (depending on how big they are) and they should be fine.. They'll probably be fine for 2 days without food id say?
  15. lol would be awesome to see.. Would hate to think of how hard it would be to find suitable homes for hundreds of giant gourami's though..
  16. How often are they doing it.. Have you looked for the obvious whitespot?
  17. Maybe someone can weed through the pages of pics on here and give you some idea.. http://images.google.co.nz/images?q=gia ... art=0&sa=N
  18. As all the lelupi in nz are most likely mixed and brought in without locations etc wouldn't it be fine to breed the orange one with the yellows.. I mean wouldn't it be like breeding a orange guppy with a yellow one, I haven't seen many oranges around so maybe if you stuck the orange to a yellow and then line bred some babies you may get some of the orange ones.. I mean I dont want to produce hybrids as dont agree with mixing fish from known differing location's but as we already have a mixed bunch in nz would it make any difference? I haven't managed to find much info on the orange vs the yellow lelupi as to wether they are a strain or a different species altogether.. Might be interesting.
  19. Give them a few goes at doing it themselves generally you will get less fry than artificially raising them or the parents may just never learn but its cool to see mum and dad angelfish swimming around with babies Obviously if you try 4 or 5 times and they just keep eating them then you will have to go down the artificial route.. You can add meth blue or something like that to help with the fungus but if they're good parents and the eggs have been fertilized you shouldn't have too many problems.. Also I think the cories will eat the egg's/fry at night removing them may well stress the parents into eating their babies.. Also turn off the external (unless you can turn it down or stick a sponge over the intake to avoid the fry being sucked up) and dont feed the babies until they are fully free swimming to avoid polluting the tank at all.
  20. Could be a good cheap and enjoyable way of getting some fish.. However with goldfish you could get ripped off and get a whole heap of nymphs.. I have stripped week old fry out of an african cichlid chucked them in a bag and given them to friends and they have taken them home and had none or only 1 or 2 die so they're alot more resiliant that people give them credit for..
  21. Your crazy no doubt about it I did it and got sick of them pretty quickly got sick of the water changes and all that and just nothing happening! Africans are way better
  22. could be socolofi but to me the head shape looks wrong.. Maybe its an older fish or im wrong but thats what i think..
  23. Yeah cool fish As pointed out theres no point in trying to guess or even knowing what its a hybrid of.. ITs a hybrid it wont be bred from and should just be enjoyed
  24. Ive used metro in a tank with bristlenoses and I think they were egg's at the time.. they're all sweet.. And I used one 400mg tab per 40litres of water, I also used it in the food but had to do the water cuz some of the fish were off their food..
