Is the internal filter making all the noise? Its definately not a good idea to turn it all off at night as your filter will die off... I have found that if internals are noisy then it may have some air in it (try assembling it under water when you clean it out) or the impellor may be worn..

lol well there ya go then Its all down to what you want.. I cant hear any of the 3 of them I have running so im happy with them I am pumping all over the place though..

Yeah some pumps are just noisy I think I used to use them when I was younger and in my bedroom and they drove me mad.. The best reasonably priced pumps ive found that are quiet are the precision pumps something like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 858437.htm

I got it from a shop lol I know exactly what shop and who sold it to me too. I was assured it was pure (as we always are) but I had my doubts when I got it... Theres some more pics I had to turn the flash off to get straighter on ones so they're a bit blury never any good at taking pics..

Yeah the shapes a bit off which I knew anyway but like I said they're cool and they're both males not housed with any peacock females so they cant do any damage

I got 2 of these (as a pair but they're both males) as Aulonocara Sp (I guess meaing peacock species..) I dont hold much hope for them being pure but they're pretty cool anyway good for a male only tank I guess. Any ideas as to what they might be (if they are pure) or if they're just another peacock hybrid Thanks

Well the good thing (although im not encouraging it at all) is that they have labelled them as hybrids so people know and dont buy them as something they're not..

lol yeah I have told petshops about their hybrids too but they dont care and it actually does you more harm than good over here when you dont have many shops to choose from.. It seems hybrids sell and thats all shops care about, our local has electric blue x azuzures (written on the front of the tank) and they're for sale..

lol id go one further than dam hard to tell and say almost impossible.. Which is why ive had to start with young fish from people I know got the fish at the same time and kept them pure its so easy to get crap these days... All my peacocks are seperate except for the ones I can tell the difference between ie ob peacocks even then im sticking them in their own tank to breed from its just not worth the hassle or risk of putting more rubbish out there

yeah I got them from 2 different sources at 2 different times both the sources got the parents from one shipment at the same time so yeah who knows what they are... I am well aware of pretty much any peacock cross breeding and keep all my peacocks seperate even these 2 that I think may be the same thing until they are big enough for me to tell what they are exactly I will post pics when they are muture enough to colour up both on here and cichlid-forum as I do with most my fish just to be sure

loinheads need to be pretty big maybe 10cm plus I have some and know some others with what I would call relatively big ones and they haven't bred yet... How did you end up with supposidly F1 ones?

Am also looking for peacocks.. So far I have the following peacocks: Maleri reds (possibly 2 different colour types would say locations but thats a no no now ) dragons bloods, chilumba, ob's and red shoulders.. Randoms Red and ice blue zebs, scolofi, giraffes, kadango's, electras, demasoni, yellows, lionheads and a whole heap more I most likely cant remember at this stage.. Probably getting rid of most the randoms to get into the peacocks/haps a bit more once I can find some good ones that I dont already have! If anyone has anything let me know.

Yeah I can see Burundi in that link but in the article on them http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/j_marlieri.php it has no mention of burundi only Magara, Halembe, Kala, Katili, Samazi, Kambwimba, Isanga, Cape Tembwe, or Katoto... It seems there is some contridiction on cichlid-forum or I dont understand fully whats going on.. I no pretty much no geography on the lake..

there are alot of fish in it theres no doubt and I pour alot of food in there as well.. Ive tried to compensate for the heavy loading by sticking 2 filters on it.. I have 2000LPH on a 280litre 4ft tank..

I haven't used the unit yet and it is used up but I have been contemplating it.. Its a resin one I think as one canaster is filled with some sort of brown stuff that looks like desicant (I know its not but the only thing I can think of thats like it).. It may well be the water im using from the tap.. But why only one tank? Ive tried doing a heap of water changes but they only dilute it and then it builds up again pretty quick..

Sorry yeah vertical banding.. And I saw a few golden johanni that went blue and all horrible someone was selling a few and had pics up on trademe a while back...

the lights are relatively old I also stick a fair bit of food in but there shouldn't be any left uneaten as its in a well stocked african tank..
