  1. There is alot of info around on the internet that suggests bloodworms are full of parasites and I suspect this is what may have happened to your fish.. Also clear stringy poo's are a sign of parasites. The gouramis have always had problems with health as far as im aware I know a few people who've brought a few and lost them etc. You should probably dose your tank with something for parasites maybe metro or something like that.
  2. I have used the same treatment recently on my yellows/cobalt blue with similair problems and they are all fat now and looking awesome.. It does sound like something deeper is up with your one, good work on the other babies good back up.
  3. I find keeping rams alive for more than 4-5months is hard no matter what the water conditions I had them with my discus and they had the best food water changes every day or 2 and they still wasted away the same as pretty much every pair of rams ive ever had have.. I put it down to poor quality fish as I picked the best out when I got them but something else may be going on I guess..
  4. Yeah and you'll probably find all the cool stuff you want to import wont be on the list..

Yeah exactly why i didn't get any and got some off someone who had some awesome ones (when they didn't send the wrong fish )

Sweet as then unless your fish are monsters they should be fine in there from 2-3cm ive got 2cm yellows in with big bumblebees and a big kadango male and they dont even bother trying to eat them..

Depends on how big they are and what fish you want to put with them. I almost got some of the last lot that came in but after not finding any info and seeing what they grow into it all appeared a bit shady for me so just got johanni of someone who was breeding descent ones...

Ive got plenty of female fish that hold eggs with egg spots and all the experts on the net etc say never to go on egg spots alone, even egg spots and dominance could just be a dominant female with no males in the tank..

ive looked through all of this http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/r ... ?genus=122 most the Melanochromis species out there and none of them appear to have golden males and females, id go for juvvie's or johanni or interuptus or something random that the importers had lying around..

how do you know it is a male?

    golden johnii

I dont know what they are ive tried to figure it out.. The last lot that came in the males did go blue even though they were golden johanni, but the males didn't have nice blue lines on them they had broken sort of like black criss crosses on them not like any johanni ive ever seen.
  14. yeah for sure I use 2ft's to grow most stuff out to around 2-3cm's or until ive got a spare bigger tank to chuck things into
  15. Yeah those ones look awesome and the male pictured looks nothing like my one so I guess my one is another of those "kadango's" floating around the place..
  16. Give it a go then As long as it has nothing toxic in it it should be sweet..

You can try and make a fish trap using coke bottles or something similair, I also leave nets in my tank for ages when im trying to catch a fish sometimes I walk out and they're swimming past and I nab them.. Also I try and put food in the net and they swim in to get it, but its probably no help if your fish hide if you come into the room.. Also regarding breeding them, I would give it a go if I was you just for fun but wouldn't expect to get much more than $5-8 a fish when you sell them because they are only zebras
  18. lelupi are about the same i think I dont know how they are when they've formed a pair but my 3 are pretty nasty even in a 3ft its too small for them.
  19. Im swaying towards 54litres being too small for brichardi at the moment if they get stroppy with each other then they will be dead for sure in a tank that small..
  20. sweet yeah the photo isn't quite side on I took it downwards at an angle to cut down on glare so its nose does look a bit bad in the pic..
  21. I haven't seen any but that doesn't mean they're not around.. Maybe you could upsize slightly to a 3-4ft tank
  22. apologies for the dirty tank (its the really hard stain to get off and it only just got dirty) I wasn't hoping to get a pic of him just got him on the off chance..
  23. Hey just wondering what everyones feelings are on this "kadango".. Sorry about the bad pic it was best of a whole heap.. Too much light in there this time of day and too many reflections Thanks
  24. I have heard (on cichlid forum) of people keeping 12 demasoni in a 2ft tank and had them breeding etc, they even reckoned it curbed the aggression by having a lack of space... Yeah Bricardi or Pulchers would be ok I guess I think Billaney's tank with the lelupi wouldn't be much bigger than 2 ft would it?
  25. Yeah I think the ones we got will colour up nicely and definatly be something good and different for us to keep Good to see new stuff coming through..
