lol they must be good mates if they share
-
All the red kadango's ive had have been well behaved, they all disagreed with the red shoulder peacock males though due to their colours being similair.. But in my case the red shoulder dominanted the kadango they still got along but only one fish was allowed to breed out of those 2 and it was red shoulder..
-
electric blues as in what? They are called alot of things mainly these ones.. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/r ... ?genus=183 But have seen red shoulder peacocks called electric blue and some zebras as well..
-
If the red shoulder did in fact release milt then some of the babies will be fertilised by him and they will be hybrids.. If it was me I would strip the whole lot into the tank and remove the male peacock for future spawnings.. That is what I would do im sure others have different opinions..
-
Males generally have longer fins etc and females pink belly's they should be relatively easy to sex
-
hmmm lol lots and lots.. Have a tank full of guppies platties and bristlenoses... 2 tanks full of baby africans - 2 types of maleri red, chilumba red flush, demasonis, ice blue zebras. Another grow out tank with pulchers, more ice blues, ahli's, lumpheads, red zebs more demasoni and some peacocks.. Another tank with 10 discus and a pair of blue rams And the tank full of breeders - pairs or trio's of ice blues, red zebs, red shoulder peacocks, johanni, ob peacocks, and other randoms ob zebs, clown loaches bristlenoses and other random single africans tropheus and some peacocks looking for partners... All up ive got hundreds too many to count it was certainly a mission moving them all from Auckland it was tons and tons of bags and polyboxes in the car with 3 cats and a dog And ive still got empty tanks so more room for fish

i cant tell what it is??... can u see anything from the pics?
-
Yeah thats another thing and I assumed it was a male due to the long ventral fins... But the vent looks like female to me?
-
I dont know if anyone can tell anything from these.. I recon female which would suck because a male just went on trademe and I forgot to bid on it
-
I got this tropheus down in wellington the other day and im trying to figure out if its a boy or a girl (I will vent it eventually which is why the nets are in the tank ive been trying to catch it..) but seems as a few people on here have bred them surely someone knows what it is by its finage the pics are crap sorry.. Also looking for a partner for him/her eventually too so if anyone has any for sale let me know I know they are supposed to be in a colony but if I get a partner will try and breed them through a divider..
-
lol yeah thats usually my policy if they've got mixed peacocks then I wont get them or if I dont know what the male is by looking at him.. But these guys looked cool and I actually expected they were both males and would look cool in a display tank so I got them was half hoping they were not hybrids but half leaning towards that from looking around on the net but its cool they wont be bred from or sold as anything unless I can id them
-
lol nah i didn't buy them as royal blues either And I know what red shoulders are I seem to have alot of them all males though.. I brought mine from their as aulonocara Sp And they look like yours..
-
My ob peacocks bred today too
-
I dont know kyle but I got 2 from your store as well Unfortunately the "pair" turned out to be 2 males they look pretty cool though..

Hey Ira, so it was you that Glenn rung? Didn't get it sorted it appears time and the time of year was against us.. We just used declorinated tap water and will sort the RODI unit out later when everything opens in the new year.. Am I sweet to use sea water here? It always looks muddy at the beach do I have to wade out a bit to get it? The soft corals look ok ones still a bit limp but one of the bigger ones with tentacles appears to be splitting in 2 so that should be interesting.. What do these corals eat? I have heard they eat microscopic stuff in the water.. Also lighting the tank came with a double 3ft and a double 2ft fitting but the bulbs in all of them are screwed with black lines around the ends.. The 2ft has a blue light in it and the double 3 just normal white lighting what bulbs does everyone recommend replacing them I dotn want to go halide just get whatever corals will be sweet with fluoros.. I got a kit with the following testers in it GH, NO3, PH, NH4, FE, KH, NO2, CO2 and PO4 is that all I need?
-
what test kits should I get? Going over to palmy later today and might get some.. It came with none though..
-
Well we got the tank yesterday and drove back from wellington in the terrible traffic and got it all setup last night.. Did half the water from the existing setup and half with the instant ocean... All the soft corals look sad as I I think they may be dead.. Do I need to add anything else to the water for them? Whats the temp supposed to be... I have a box of stuff Kalk, joes juice, Strontuim concentrate, calcuim chloride concentrate, potassium iodine concentrate and phos zorb should I have added any of that? I have heard they just sulk when moved but wondering if theres anything I should have done..
-
lol you should have put this up a little earlier was just in wellington and could have brought you down some ice blues.. Will be down again so let me know if your interested
-
lol will have to see id have to say at this stage id rather see the africans in the big tanks... But things may change being in this area of the country doesn't help either im sure an upgrade would be more tempting if we were still in Auckland with all the shops up there we visited every week filled with marines.. Yeah I thought dori wouldn't be too suitable but had a feeling a pair of clowns would be sweet what else could you put in there that isn't too much trouble?
-
LOL I wouldn't want to take the tank off her if she'd really decided she still wanted it regardless of auction or price I know we all change our minds, although im sure if she really didn't want it she would have changed the reserve and buy now to $100000 or (as she said) just taken the $2 hit and withdrawn it I think ill grab the RODI filter and cruise around welly with it and try and find some filter bits and pieces as I guess im more likely to find them down there.. Also with the coral transportation, do you break them off the rocks? I was going to take a few chillie bins with me was just thinking of sticking the whole lot in there the live rock and water if it will all fit then it should all be sweet.. Also regarding fish a bit of a nube at this the misses wants nemo (and of course an anemone) some and dori lol Nemo's easy some sort of clown fish and I presume it would be sweet in a tank this size but dori is some sort of tang (blue tang I think)? I think they need bigger tanks but dont know really anything about them lol.. Obviously I will get the whole thing back and setup for a while before I try and stick any fish in it but best to case them out..
-
yeah it should be sweet ive got big ones in my african tanks and they're fine..
-
yup lime will raise it I have heard of people using dolimite lime in african tanks to keep things sweet..
-
lol I wondered why the reserve raised and the closing date came forwards.. Sorry about that if you did still want it we dont really care something else will come up.. Just let us know..
-
lol dont we all Unfortunately due to the ratio's people like to keep these guys in there isn't many spare females around the place but good luck...
-
Yeah it seems like its a good deal haven't seen it yet Have been lurking a while reef and wanting to get marine after seeing all yours just waiting for a descent priced one to come up.. The algae your talking about is all that brown crap that can be seen in the photos? How do I get rid of it just scrub it off with toothbrush etc, and if I scrub it all off whats to stop it coming back? Ive seen some disgusting reef tanks covered in it.. And the RODI unit how do I get filters etc for that? Does that just filter the tap water and remove all the crap from it?
