  1. I have morphed and yet to morph and they have just started laying eggs again after about a month of rest. The only ones that would survive the relocation would be the morphed ones I think. I sent some eggs successfully to another member a while ago but I think the weather was a bit warmer.

I suggest you start making home brew beer or wine and pass the CO2 into the tank. Wine yeasts would last longer. That way you can use the "waste".
  3. I haven't raised axies but with fire bellied newts I start a new container each week to 10 days or the smaller ones get eaten. I understand axies are about as hungry.
  4. It pays to seperate them into similar sizes as well or you may end up with one big fat baby.

I agree, vinegar is only about 4% acetic acid I think.
  6. Not the best time of the year for baby beardies.
  7. If you don't tell them what they are they will not know or be enclined to object.
  8. Looked OK to me when I was up there for the conference. In fact I bought a young male at retail for about the same price as a wholesale baby down here. Had a bit of tail missing but that was not their fault and it was a nice yellow (doesn't affect the genes).
  9. Since they are more of a point source than a four foot flouro you would need to be careful with placement. They need to be close to the basking location to be effective.
  10. I don't have plants available at present but should have swords mainly in the Summer.
  11. They have a massive root system and can be easily grown emersed. Used to be grown as a pot plant many years ago. If you get the plants that have just emersed when they have three leaves they will convert to submersed with good light. You can take a peice of root with it but it grows slowly and like anubias is likely to get covered in algae. The emersed growth stays pretty dormant but the new growth can be attractive. The giant leaves often sold in the shops don't normally do well. I understand that the sap can be toxic so good to soak for a day in a bucket of water or leave the sap behind in the shop.
  12. My aurea that I grew from tadpoles were pretty good at trying to eat their siblings when they were almost the same size. I rescued a couple that were three quarters swallowed and only their feet sticking out. I would put all frogs in the same catagory as politicians---don't trust any of them. At least frogs don't sell second hand cars though.
  13. There shouldn't be ammonia in your tap water but any chlorinated water supply will contain chloramines as well and they will not be removed by letting the water stand or by aerating it. I am aware that some people add chlorinated water straight from the tap and don't have a problem. What I have tried to point out in the past is that aeration or letting the water stand overnight may get rid of the chlorine but will not get rid of the chloramines which are almost as bad. You pays your money and takes your pick.
  14. Thanks for the info, but I have used it with no ill effect many times on tetras and catfish.
  15. I don't think they will interbreed as the smaller ones will get eaten ( They are pretty good at eating their own siblings)
  16. Same here. I am waiting till he gets some fertile seeds and grows them.
  17. Being simple minded I have always worked on the theory that if you remove the eggs they cannot eat them. If you want babies that is the way to go. If you want to watch them raise young (or eat the eggs) then as suggested a seperate tank would be the go.
  18. Try a left handed shovel and people may see the problem from another angle.
  19. I have never had trouble using malachite on cardinals or neons. Although malachite green is no relation to malachite the copper ore, many fish which are sensitive to copper are also sensitive to malachite green but as far as I know this is not so of tetras.
  20. Acriflavine, malachite green or furan should not damage your plants or colour the RTV.
  21. Most meds used for whitespot at the suggested concentration will not be too detrimental to plants. Some meds that do are formaldehyde and flourish excel. I have used tonic, malachite, meth blue, acriflavine, quinine, mepacrine, copper sulphate, furan 2 and a few antibiotics without any problems that I recall.
