  2. i dont think hes joking. i think that pic is outside his house hey mitch fancy bringing it to auckland once a month? [dont care about seawater just wanna ride in the fire engine  ]
  3. duke my 850 struggles to cope with 1300lph, i have a 1300lph pump that goes through UV, 3 90deg. bends, 2foot head and some flexipipe. with all of that restriction it seems to send the perfect amount to the skimmer - with the skimmer outlet vavle open full, the water level is right at the bottom of the neck
  4. chim can you explain how you get your gravity feed to run at a stable rate of flow? do you just tee it off and put a valve on it?
  5. lolz i rekon im sure steve had new gold teeth when i saw him the other day
  6. yeah you can use your credit card after the hobby renders it useless for anything else
  7. yep it can, but it may pay to do some reading on the damsel first, as they can be agressive. it may limit what fish you can have in the future
  8. why would you buy a tank like that and not fill it to the top? the inch or so headroom for the overflow would surely be inconsequential considering how much water would already be in there. someone put up the tank size - glass thickness chart pls!
  9. niiiice that metal framing would probably polish up ok too [until it started to rust that is]

    New Flow

mate 19mm is probably too small for the return, given the volume of water that pump kicks out. alot of tanks [mine included] use 40mm durso / standpipe plumbing with a 32mm tank fitting

    New Flow

do you have a standpipe / durso? cant remember seeing one on your tank. i just set up a cracker pipe and its basically silent. what size is your overflow outlet hole?
  12. you would need some pretty grunty uv filtration to gaurantee no bacteria or parasites got through wouldnt you?
  13. those are the ones thatr were on sale at mitre 10 arent they? i went through a couple of these, they are really rattley. if you are on a budget, then the via-aqua powerheads are pretty sweet, about $40 for a 1300lph one, $90 for a 2600lph one. i have both types as in-tank circulation and they have gone fine for years. if you want something a bit gruntier, the seio ones from petplanet are good. if you want to pay the price of a small car, then have a look for some tunze streams - most people end up with one or more of these in their marine tanks. they move huge amounts of water.

  15. dont lie bubbles, you smoke de weed all day long mon
  16. do you have test kits for nitrate and phosphate? if either are present in significant amounts in the system you will get algae growth.
  17. heheh.. that or the sick SW ones get eaten before you notice they are crook
  18. just called them, $161.25 for a 25kg bag of dihydrite, there is also anhydrous [sp?] which is the correct one? prob dont want that much at this stage, but will go ya halves if no other options.. does anyone have a smaller amount they can sell me? my calcium is @ 260 (according to aquarium pharmaceuticals testkit anyway)
  19. what is the best additive to raise the calcium level [not kh] in a tank?
  20. heres the thread http://www.zeovit.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6213&highlight=skeletogenesis
  21. slightly off topic but, i was reading a thread on zeovit.com where a guy was saying that kh over 8 will retard "skeletogenesis" or calcification in sps. anyone have an opinion on this?

I do like the idea of a 300bhp twin turbo generator though

    Power outage

those little bunnings GMC generators seem to have quite an erratic power output - does anyone use a power conditioner with their generator?
