    nasty tang

was the tang there first? if so, put the tang in yer sump for a week or so - while it is in there, change your rocks around so as to make new "territory". i think the idea is that when it goes back in, it doesn't recognize the tank as being its own territory to defend. or maybe that the foxface has similar feeding patterns as the tang so it sees it as competition
  4. ewwwwwww... would be better off with a couple of those 1000 litre plastic-with-a-metal-cage numbers on an old trailer
  5. how good is that octopus!

    Worms

shine a torch up its bum and they will crawl out
  8. was at the Melbourne aquarium again a couple of weeks ago. they have one reef tank, with one acro and a bunch of softies in it. hardly any fish, worst aquascaping ever. some of the other stuff is cool though, jellyfish tanks, fish only tank with heaps of fish and seasnakes in it. overall really cool but if you are going there to see corals it is disappointing

a $12 dollar pen and a $0.13 per hour pay rise
  11. mate just drill the tank, its easy.
  12. would pay to cure them in your sump for a few weeks, you will get less algae on them when you put them in your display. the algae takes ages to die off and discolours the rock.

    Feeding

i get quite bad nutrient spikes when i feed frozen food, even if i defrost&rinse it first. seems strange as pretty much all of it seems to get eaten......
  14. Dude ira is trying to rip you off.... i can do them for half that price. I am new zealands leading breeder of glass anemones and can supply the biggest and healthiest ones available.
  15. http://www.centameter.co.nz/ you could use this to check tank power usage

    Is this Cyno?

i get it when i overfeed. when i cut down the feeding it goes away. in a way, it is an easy method of nutrient export, just vacuum it up and its gone
  17. nice! interesting bottom chamber on it, i would have left that out myself, but it seems to go well. doesnt look like there is a valve to adjust the water height in the skimmer though..... i will be making my next skimmer should i ever need to upgrade from ap850.
  18. either that or a space monster......

    clean up crew

i seem to have tons of snails too - have thought about removing some, what is the problem with them being underfed? is it just that they will die and release nutrients?
  20. I have a LTA that has spat all of its zoo's. It has been about a month since this happened, and it is all white someone suggested that taking a tentacle from another anemone and feeding it to my one may seed the zooanthellae it needs to recover, as it cant get it form the water in a closed environment like our tanks. my UV probably doesnt help keep things like that alive in the water collumn. Is anyone keen to donate / sell / horse trade a tentacle from their LTA to save a life? it used to be light-ish brown with blue tips, not sure if it needs to be the same type, or if the zooanthellae are generic in anemones.
