Has anyone tried the Cor@l Design bulbs from deepblue site? I need a 150w double ender if anyone wants to sell me a new one =) Pref. 10-12k

Anyone have any thoughts on covering sumps to avoid evaporation? I was losing a bit of water from my old sump, but have just installed a new one with an open water surface area of 600x400mm. I have my display tank covered, but the sump is currently lidless, so I am losing alot of water in to the air. I am thinking of covering it, but i dont want to limit the amount of surface O2 transfer by limiting airflow over the surface of the water. I also worry about where all of that water is going... my computers are in the same room as my tanks.

Im about to get one of the 14k ones from the site. Apparently they are chinese made. $70 for the 150w vers.

Would like to do ref. above tank, but current setup dosent really allow for it. Next time Anyone have any thoughts on using local sand as sand base in refugium?

I dont imagine they would have much luck getting back through the return pump... anyone know if this is possible? I have amphipods and isopods in display tank, and have just got my hands on a decent size refugium [currently only running sump]. Wondering if there is much point trying to set it up if the pods will all get minced in the return.....

I have one of these exact ones. From the same guy on TM. All good, but the bulb is really yellow. 3000k or 4200k at a guess. Tended to flicker a bit at first, but seems to have come right after a few days.

Anyone know a good [cheap :] place in AK to get MH bulbs? Specifically 10,000k double ended . . .

I recently bought the same fitting, with 150w ballast and 3000k [i think - its banana yellow] from trademe for $50. it tends to flicker with the current bulb - not sure if this is symptom of the bulb or the ballast. Hopefully a new 10000k bulb will fix this.

I imagine that the builders stuff would be a lesser grade/poss. contain traces of other chemicals? does anyone have a link to instructions on safely preparing / applying this goo to apstasia? ['scuse the noob :]

where do yo get kalk from?

can anyone tell me the difference between 14k and 20k MH? Is it just colour, or will the tank be better off with one or the other?
