it would be good to know what the minimum zeovit setup would be - ie what potions are absolutely essential for startup, how to position the rocks so you dont need to buy a media reactor etc. i am quite keen to start using it, but would like to know whether you can 'start slowly' or if you need to go the whole hog from the get go. maybe zeovitnz can pipe up and give us some info? im sure there are plenty of us who have heard zeovit talked about and understand the principle but don't know how to implement it ourselves. i'll start - hey zeovitnz, what do i need to get to run zeo on my 800-ish litre setup?

theres no damage on the cbb, and it doesn't seem too shaken up - still eating, but sticking to one corner of the tank. i have a mirror up [cheers ben - i owe you a beer ]. will move some rocks around too. hopefully it comes right in a few days.

anyone know a good way to catch a yellow eye cole? [apart from ripping the whole tank down] i have made a makeshift trap, but it is too suspicious to swim inside. it is giving my new copperband [which is actually eating, started the minute i put it in the tank :bounce: ] a real hard time. i would prefer not to use a spear gun, but if i have too i will...... :evil: not sure if the cole will leave it alone after a couple of days, or whether it will harass it to death. it seems to have calmed down a bit over the course of the night.

thats bubble algae most tanks have it, if you have good water quality it shouldnt get out of control

what is your kh level? if kh is ok then it should keep ph in check. you could run a light on your sump at night in the meantime to stop it dropping so much

150w 10k. there are half a dozen corals doing the same thing. i've just moved those frags to there, under a different light. the ones that are doing it were all in plenty of light. it seems strange that it is only happening to some acros and not others, and it doesnt seem to matter if they are 1 inch long frags or fist sized pieces. it is happening to new additions and bits that have been in the tank for months. gonna try a diff bulb in that fitting soon :-?

Has anyone ever had their MH lights burn corals? i seem to have a few acros and montis losing colour and having tissue loss where one particular light shines on them. it only happens where the light hits them, not on the undersides. not all corals under the lights seem to get "burned" though... my water water params are all good. almost no phos, no nitrate, ca 450 kh 8 etc. only thing wrong in the last little while was my temperature being around 20-21, as my digi thermometer was reading about 3 degrees too warm. its not a new bulb, its a 150w de Arcadia 10k. it is in the same fitting with the same UV glass as my other two which don't seem to do the same thing. any ideas? scuse the bad pic, but you can see that the coral on the left is brown on one side, blue around the middle and dead on the side that the light was shining on

if the gunk it pulls out is too watery, lower the level of water in the skimmer [is this possible on a via aqua steve?]

try running some hot water down the air inlet to clear it out, mine gets salt creep from time to time and makes a hell of a racket.

step 1. consume vodka until you don't care about the algae anymore. but seriously, the recommended dosage is 1 ml per 100l water per day. prob best to split it into a morning and night dosing instead of one big one once a day. i think cracker swears by Smirnoff black label, the triple-distilled 50% stuff.
