  2. LOL, i guess incredibly,it was just a WASTED effort then... rt... ummm... rtruvian
  3. Does anyone know any good dog-sitters ( who allow indoor dogs, and have a secure yard) or would recommend a kennel for short (1-3 days) visits? We are too rural for sitters to come out to our place. For lengthy trips, we share petsitting with friends in Auckland but that is not practical for short trips. You'd think we'd have this sorted since our dog is nearly 12! but usually he goes everywhere with us. We tried a kennel once, but he was quite unhappy, so would love to find a "homestay"! Anywhere in the broader Whangarei to Russell area Cheers, DJ
  4. I've not the greenest of thumbs but Meyer's are great! BUT even better (& more traditional por la cerveza! ) is a wedge of lime! and then you can always make margaritas too ! If you have space, plant a lemon & lime tree :bounce: have ya tried a "headless mexican"? take a swig of the corona, (emptying the neck o da bottle) and then add a teensy bit of kahlua & a shot of tequila.. woohoo! sounds grosss, but its pretty good yah, someone has already been making margaritas today, LOL...starting the new year with a omelettes & strawbery mimosas.... well one thing led to another! I wonder how many typos I'll haveta edit later?! haha Happy New Year!
  5. a little late, but.... Happy holidays from the great seahorse & seadragon!
  6. Wow, that is a beautiful print! Don't you think it is worth selling?? If nobody else is interested I would be glad to make a space for it! Already looking forward to the debates with hubby
  7. :bounce: Spoon! that is a great pic!! C'mon folks, humour us with more festive pet pics, whether furry, fishy or? Here's another old one of mine... I still need to dig out the decos, eeek!!!!!
  8. Not sure if it is bad for the pump, but do you think your tank is getting sufficient flow? I have had the AR380 for years and after the original sponge cover that came with it wore out tried a stocking too... and had the same problem, so I cut the fabric from a small fish net and tied that on instead. Worked pretty good. But finally hunted more sponge covers from different petshops. Good luck with your fry
  9. Only have my 1 beloved dog & down to 2 seahorses... am trying to resist urges to become more zoo-like again. but the title RANDOM made me think of the bird I rescued in November last year. I wish we had tagged it before releasing... but I am Sure it has been visiting again recently! I swear I recognise it's distinct call
  10. OMG, haven't even thought about Christmas yet this year!... but Yes  I'm guilty! LOL Here are pics from a couple years ago; My potlbelly just loves a mysis "snowstorm"! Here is last years "tree". and the empty space where the tank belongs, but it broke just before Christmas and the seahorses spent the holidays in a rubbermaid tub in the garage! so of course, I HAD to put up lots of seahorse ornaments Will have to post some new pics if I get around to deco's this year... We've always had a cute teensy l'il stocking for our fishies.. Merry Christmas!

    Macro ID

Thanks Stella... I was hoping for something a bit more definitive LOL funny guy It did start to worry me because it sprouted everywhere, proliferating on all the plastic hitches and sponge intake! I'm just curious why something is growing Now, after 4 years of failure... and no husbandry changes. Except I did collect some water offshore a few months back, instead of my normal beachwater...hmmm, maybe it favours low light, as one of my old bulbs died...and cold water. I'm using same water in my troppo, but no sign of it there. Ah well. I AM enjoying it, whatever it is. I just like to Know these things

    Macro ID

Hi, I have always struggled to Grow any macro in my temperate, native seahorse tank. I have plunked things like the odd seaweed and even macros from my troppo in there and they maintain/hang in there or slowly die... recently though, I finally actually have something Growing and am happy about that, BUT it has spread quite quickly and I'm not sure what it is; I hope it is not some nuisance algae accidentally introduced! Anyone know?
  15. all great photos! and thanks for giving me a much needed syngnathid pic fix ( the seadragon)
  16. Oh, wow! those were great! I have never seen nautilus (except my fake ornament) in a tank. thanks for sharing them...

Well I guess that should quench my salthirsty request for new seahorse pics! dang, all those ones you released could have easily appeased all the eager requests here! and a lot of people would have learned how hard they really are to raise

  20. Hi Lisa, That's great! Still going good here... Potbelly girl fat & sassy, kuda a little thin at the mo but OK... Here I am stuck at home while hubby is off to the snow without me yet again!! Tis a nice sunny day; Think I'll head to the beach! c ya!
