Wow, found a the first pic I took of my first ever tropical tank 2 years ago now: Stupid suction cups wouldnt hold for a few days... Nice pretty shiny new heater. Its now unseen buried in moss due to my moss wall haha

Yup, plus it has a little suction cup for sensing the 'in tank' temperature, so you set it away from the heater a bit. The temp control is cool, but seeing as I have changed the temp probably a total of 3 times in the past year and a half, its usefullness is debatable

I'm thinking planted cubes look AWESOME :lol: Dantez girl, I have a stainless steel 50W in my little 36 litre tank. Looks nicer (tho I hide it behind plants anyway). However, it wasn't strong enough to keep the tank warm in a student flat in the middle of winter haha. Small tanks obviously harder to keep warm tho

lang, a 4fter is shorthand for writing "4 foot tank" or "4 footer" There are a lot of tanks around in the standard sizes of 2 foot, 3 foot, 4 foot and up. Instead of someone having to give all tank dimensions and/or liters, they just say 4 footer and everyone knows roughly what size tank they are talking about

how old are the fish? Can be genetic defect, tho I think you see it from when they are young, rather than developing. Curved spine is also one of the signs of fish tuberculosis. I had a zebra danio that got a bit kinky before it finally died, though it was old and I suspect it may have just been old age hunchback No problems in my other fish

Yeah I picked up a full size brilliantly coloured male from Animates. He spawned with my female after only having him for a few days. Then rolled over and died 4 days after that :roll: The one in the pic in this thread is gorgeous too

Just looks like a CO2 diffuser of some sort. Its on the end of the line, thus CO2 makes its exit there lol

mmmmm ok thanks for the info. Just confusing. Reading old threads for info as I am trying to not make people have to say the same old. Whenever someone wants to do DIY, people recommend cheap pressurised. Then you wanna do cheap pressurised, and you get told do spend more money and do it properly :roll: Might go play with DIY CO2 instead, sounds more affordable

I don't want to hijack the thread, but there are so many CO2 threads around already. Am just trying to learn what I would need and how much it would cost for me to set up. Thought I would just do a DIY, but if all i need is a regulator, sodastream bottle and diffuser... Blueandkim, can you explain how to set up a sodastream CO2 system? I know you need the bottle, a regulator, a gas line and a a diffuser. Can you do without the other extras? My partner has a solenoid kicking around he said he can fit in with it. Where can I get a regulator from that will work on a sodastream bottle? My tank is only 170 litres btw. Or might it pay to put up a 'wanted' ad in the private T&E and get it all in 1 Sorry for thread hijacking ljtan!

Thanks for all the ideas. I'm in such a fishy mood (trust that to happen when I am away from my tank on holiday haha). Cyano is finally carking it I think, which means my self imposed restriction of 'no more fish until the cyano is gone!' is lifting Ideal tank, I'd love to have a school of hatchets for top level, my pair of blue rams plus a pair of gold rams. An army of cardinal tetras. My 2 GBAs, plus maybe some yoyo loaches or a pair of royal whiptails Yeah, I have no money and expensive taste :roll: In the meantime I will cruise fishy forums... Also considering swapping my giant bit of driftwood and re-scaping the tank. Anyone wanna buy a big bit of driftwood with giant java fern? lol
