  1. its just 2 hard to have them in NZ. cant have, or cant afford to have decent aros, and other "monsters" seems either hard to find, or non existent. if i am in singapore ..... 8) 8) 8)
  2. i do hope that there will be more n more "monster" fish keepers in the forum. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  3. i agree that they are aggressive fish, but i fail to think ur tank is too small, its after all 220 litres. 1. they take years to be fully grown,2. even if they are fully grown, u are lucky to see them exceed 35cm. ur 91cm tank is sufficient. u dont need a pond to have them. just to express something irrelevant: samething can be said about asian aros, people often say one needs a 2 metre tank to have them, sometimes more. but the truth is in asia, it is a common practice, and commonly considered that a 1.2 meter tank is sufficient(through experience). and they seem to be happy, or at least no significantly less happy than if they are put in a much larger tank, so i dont know what is the theoritical basis for people to claim good size tanks like urs is "too small"(in ur case datnoids). if there is none, such claims would be arbitrary.
  4. I vote a! (justification: small fishes are boring, since they dont tend to change, its time to have a monster) and maybe some quality tigers!
  5. may b do what i do. Henward i know that u have the thought that pellet food is "better" (maybe from monster tank.com)anyways. try this since they eat shrimps chunks, i just stick/stuff a pellet or few(if they are small pellets) into the shrimp chunk. you know the tigers, they wont think, they just swallow everything at one go. works for me everytime. so he gets the shrimp n pellets. this is my technique lol, its not that troublesome 2.
  6. philosophically speaking people sometimes give out false/contradicting info does not equal this forum is valueless. inother words, people sometimes make mistakes, but that doesnt mean what they do are entirely meaningless or have no value at all. e.g. my uni lecturers sometimes make mistakes and give out contradicting theories, does that mean my university is meaningless and has no value? surely the answer is NO.
  7. Get UV light Filters. the small capacity ones cost under 100 bucks. result? green colour gone in 1-2 days. simple as that.
  8. 2 discus, 1 siamese tiger. the tank is a 215 litre.
  9. no. they are just tiny white moving dots. massive amount 2 anyone has any ideas?
  10. yeah but the wood's fine there for a long time. that means its not the wood it self's problem. i can just get rid of it, but there are must be a reason for causing this.
  11. hi. i've just discovered there are these massive amount of very tiny white spot bugs/worms on my drift wood. i can even see them moving. what are they? how can i get rid of them? they should be harmful right? plz help
  12. yep, Ian's did a pretty good job in explaining. so lets me just paraphrase aquariums need filters, if not, fishes die due to the poor water chemistry, also every one have these bio filters. it produces the so called "good bacteria" which improves the water quality. you cant just throw fishes into da tank. please do some studies on the internet regarding how to establish a tank for beginners. this may take you sometime. or just go to your local fish shop and ask what is required. you will need to buy some essential tools for fish keeping such as varies test kits, and water conditioners. plz do some studying 1st, we are all learning!
