  1. I do like the swift rasboras. The orange streak is brighter in them. Do yours like to school or are they happy wherever?
  2. killies? absolutely gorgeous, yes. But character? The pair I had just 'hung out'. Didn't really swim around much. The ones I have seen in stores have been similar. And yes, very fully planted tank they were in lol. Plus they are so small. Oh, been wanting to ask for a while, how large do king killies get?
  3. Yeah I love cardinals too. Just costly. Do they school nicer than neons? My neons seem to get as far away from eachother as possible
  4. oooo can we get dwarf flag cichlids here? Small, pretty...
  5. Yes! those are the ones, cheers Though they are africans, and need a high pH, so I wont be getting them. They are pretty though, for straight silver fish
  6. You lost your homebred ones too??? that sucks. Didn't realise you'd gotten any, or was this a while ago? and lol, yeah I like africans too. But I'm afraid I like plants hence me thinking of getting more peaceful cichlids for my tank You could help me though. I want to know what the fish are in one of the display tanks at Wet Pets. One of the big tanks along the top, before you get to the goldfish. There are some silver cichlids (am pretty sure) that are always breeding. They seem to always have spawn around them. Rather fine fins too. Do you know what they are? even if you have a couple of guesses, itll be easier for me to look them up instead of trawling through galleries to find them haha Mollies and swords don't really do it for me
  7. haha, dads at me to get kribs. He says if I don't get any he'll buy a pair and dump them in there anyway. He had them years ago. I doubt I'll want to sell them mitzy! they are my fav fish. The female I assume is imported, and she went through 2 imported males before I got a NZ bred male. Seem to be doing well, have had them together for several months now. The nz male was small when I got him but hes now bigger than her. Our LFS had the nz rams, but they are $20 each. The ones in there at the moment are quite small too.
  8. I think my blue tux guppies *might* be going in my big tank. Want to get my little tank off my desk so I can have desk space lol I am fussy though, if I have little schooling fish I want them to school! Don't like it as much when there are lots of little fish that just mix up together. Spose if I put a big scary fish in... haha I like the keyholes. What other cichlids are good for planted comm tanks? I LOVE my blue rams, they are gorgeous. Have spawned a couple of times too, but I havent bothered to try and raise fry yet
  9. Yeah the neons I would trade in for newer models if need be, so compatibility with them isnt a huge issue. My blue rams don't seem to hassle any other fish LOL at your tigerbarbs. They sound like evil wee things Going to look up keyhole cichlids... wasn't sure if they were community cichlids or not Hoping that there will be panduros available for me to buy, but wont hear until later tonight
  10. OK, so I would like some fish for my 170 litre planted tank. Only have 3 bristlenoses, 6 neons and a pair of blue rams in there at the moment. I know the basics of what fish are around, but chatting about it is more fun lol. What fish are active, or school nicely or have a heap of character? I like angels, but realise they limit what else you can have. So if I wanted to pass on the neons and get angels, what else could I have in there... Or any other ideas? Yeah, its easter sunday and I am bored haha
  11. zebra danios, very cheap and available almost everywhere. Anywhere from $1.50 to $6 depending on store I think
  12. lmao Ira    And shadowfax ( ), these are OUTDOOR ratties. Tho this one looked kinda like a mini wallaby... had really long legs...
  13. I have a 80 odd litre rubbish bin outside where my fishtank water sits to age, and at the moment theres only about 30cm of water in it... I heard the guys laughing outside. Then they called me out to see. Poor wee young rat floating dejectedly face down in the water He musta been really thirsty
  14. lol, once you've smushed that one, you can come back and get a link from someone to buy an unbreakable glider to learn with
  15. down in christchurch? Good luck...
  16. My Dad is right into his RC flying, along with my brother in law. Hes got about 10 planes now, and 2 helis lol. They started off learning with a pair of indestructible gliders (made out of foam) at a hill at the local beach as it has good ocean wind uplift. Then they moved onto a pair of cheap polystyrene electric planes, and from there onto larger, more stable planes. Their latest toy is a bungie cord used to fling a little glider 30 metres up in the air
  17. Do they look like this? As those are blue rams 8) Or do they look different again?? But congrats on getting the fry free swimming! My bluies have just spawned again in my big tank. Gotta remove the eggs today I think, before they get eaten again  lol
  18. Take a trip to Hastings and go to Palmers, they have a special fish shop there which is very cool
  19. and says houseplant, but can be transplanted to aquarium... http://www.fnzas.org.nz/plant_survey/aq ... 009daac3d0
  20. oh thank you!!! Was hacking me off. The shop ladies told me they thought it was stardust, but do you think I could remember that when I got home? NO!! So ta for the name
  21. gorgeous fish. Love the big red, and the crowntails. Just a question though... with all these people breeding bettas, where do all the young end up? Never really see good ones in pet stores, or listed online... where and how do they change hands? Just curious 8)
  22. Thanks to those of you who replied and were nice about it 8) Went back to store, and worker was very interested when I said I had been told it was not an underwater plant and was more than happy for me to swap for another plant. She also decided to give me back half, and put half in one of their tanks to see if it would survive or not (didn't want to be buying in plants for sale from a plant and fish supplier that were going to die). Also had another of the same one in one of their tropical tanks that had been there for 3 1/2 weeks I think and it was looking nice and healthy. Also not infested with cyano, its just a combo of the colouration of the leaf edges and slightly mucky little tank I'd chucked it in when I got home
  23. Picked it up today, but not sure what it is exactly... Can anyone help? Thanks
  24. Rozski
