  2. My dad take great joy in reminding me of that fact at every opportunity he can get
  3. well i would hate to get told off for using the more familiar terms  Thank you for the offers from all of you. Sorry the budget just can't handle 3-4 return airfares etc. For those more local offers, Perhapes we can organise a bit of a working bee for the weekend? I have managed to _ _ _ _ _ _ (blackmail, bribe, coax, threaten, demand, other *insert prefered choice*) my mum to take the "dear, lovable little angels" for a couple of nights :bounce:
  4. Useless as mammary glands on a masculine Bos taurus. Can't even babysit the kids for me.
  5. oh and i forgot to mention that hubby seems to have come down with a cold or flu and is not capable of much more than a snore and occasional cough
  6. I am a one WOman army and have 2 violent entities in the forms of small, innocent looking children to get a large job done in what feels like an impossible small amount of time. All i know is i have to get all our belongings (including all the fish) from large location "A" to smaller location "B" before the 1 of May. Gimme a PM if anyone has nothing better to do these holidays!

    Big enough

We are using a bigger one of these by Resun to run UGF, sponge filters and airstones for all our tanks (6 UGFuplifts , 3-4 air stones, 9 sponge filters) And we love it to bits. Can handle a lot more than that too. I would however invest the $15 roughly in getting some replacement diaphrams cut from a reinforced material. Just call up "The Gasket Company" as they have the material to do it. Some would say it is noisy BUT it is no way near as noisy as running 4+ little pumps
  9. A photo or any idea as to how the C.A.P.S show stand is put together? The Box was opened up to have a nosey and get it all sorted out (it has been sitting for about 12 years) and none of us have a clue how the stand goes together. I liken it to a jigsaw that has no picture on the box. Does anyone recall what it looked like? Or more to the point has anyone ever actually seen it set up?
  10. We are all allergic to fur (Cats, rats, mice, rabbits and i will include birds too even tho i know they have feathers.) in our household. But not dogs, we just wanted to wait till we had our own home and could afford the time and money for a dog. But we really like critters so fish it was!
  11. look like this? http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=balashark
  12. Really? It is a pretty new article (27/3/08) I guess it helps, if you are thinking of breeding loaches, to be a "professional fish breeder and ichthyologist". Great photos
  13. Really! 8) tho that sounds like more of a mission than raising the temp in a tank, imo.
  14. i currently have 17 axoltyls (that is probably about 6 - 8 too many  ) As well as everything else fish of course
  15. Metynnis hypsauchen Metynnis maculatus Myloplus rubripinnis Mylossoma aureum And don't forget Metynnis Argenteus Hmmm a phrase i just found on www.fishbase.org about M. Argenteus. The hypsauchen/Argenteus are the most common ones

  19. You only have the one cowrie don't you conch? Is there a chance the could be infertile if cowries are "not hermaphrodites". There is not a lot of info out there about cowies is there?
  20. umm.... what is classed as "late registration? And can Totally Tanked members register even tho we are not technically affiliated?
  21. bettas are really inquisitive. She was probably just thinking "Hmmm, whats THAT ova there??......hmm i'll check it out.......oh cool!.......OH Cr@p!!!! HELP!!" Kinda like the kids or dogs of the fish world, you have to "proof" their tank for them. If they can bite it, eat it, or obviously stick their head in it, they will. Sorry for your losses. R.I.P little ladies!
  22. I collected up a heap of them from google and such and put them in a photo bucket album to use when i see fit. Others are welcome to use the links too. Sometimes our default ones just don't quite express what we are feeling. http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/soggy_fruit_loop/emoticons Wow! Caryl, those pics of the wall of fish in bags is surprising!
  23. OH! I thought they were the result of me having a sweet tooth. Was hoping if the dentist could just pull the "sweet" one it would fix all my problems! Was still a painful lesson and i still like sugar!
  24. I learnt that dentists can't find a persons "sweet tooth" despite how many teeth they pull out.
