  2. Giant gourami behave just like a betta except they are much larger. Watching a giant gourami jump.....Now THAT is cool!!!
  3. Juju is a Giant Gourami I started a thread about her Here
  4. Juju ate nearly 3 slices of bread the other day. Thanks kids! She even ate the crusts!.........does that mean she is going to get hairs on her chest??? :-?
  5. I popped in to see Eddie on Saturday afternoon. He was jabbering away merrily! Gave him a small bunch of flowers and a card demanding that he get well quickly and best wishes and all that. That is great news about the eye surgury! I didn't know about that! :bounce:
  6. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/giant-gourami-appreciation-thread-vt31933.html Ducks are for drowning..... In the 3rd photo the red thing in the background is a toy boat that came with the duck.... It was VERY interesting. I love the idea of the "sandpit"!
  7. Hmmm so roosters now lay eggs do they? Mr L
  8. .......too chicken to go outside......
  9. B-B-B-BUT.......It is C-C-COLD!! I don't wanna go outside and have to scrape the snow off the car!! The car will be cold inside too.... Windy too....
  10. Mr Loopy has just suggested postponing till next weekend. Flights are starting to be delayed (My bestfriend is supposed to be flying to Welly this afternoon :-? ) And it is F%$&^ COLD!!!
  11. I would like to thank jim_r too again for his generosity when i had my horrid experience recently. One of the first to offer condolences and support. thank you again Jim
  12. i wanna know why they thought the fish had to be put down? could they not have been taken to a quarentee facility? Do you think they would handle the situation the same if it was Pandas that were being smuggled in? I am just having trouble understanding why they put the fish down.
  13. yeap carsnkats is going to a money transfer and fax details (i think) Not gonna rely on Nz post to stuff it up this time
  14. Bring along a plate of food and Fees (Fees MUST be handed in by the end of this meeting. )
  15. Ok. so you keep up with the meeting details........ When do we get to see you at a meeting??
  16. Yup. I don't think she has even noticed. The barbs were bullying the angels way too much. They school brilliantly and look great. they even had to check out the duck!
  17. Aww! Juju is baby beautiful at the moment. I am sure we will still love her just as much when she gets ugly (I do agree the pics of adults i have seen have not been very pretty tho :-? ) Nah!! She just has it out for fingers, hairties and plastic toys. All Wilsons tiger barbs have never had a scale out of place. She ignores them completely. and her 4 swordtails know to stay out of her way. Oh but all veges and fruit should keep far away. she really murders a cherry tomato. You have been warned!!! Watching her with that snail was brilliant. Drove her nuts when it started getting out of reach. She kept trying to leap for it higher and higher. :bounce: Umm  Anabantoid not cichlid you mean?
  18. it is a shame they got put down
  19. surely i am not the ONLY one who appeciates Giant Gourami?
  20. Why don't we hear more about these amazing fish? Our baby is Juju. The kids and i love her to bits. She is so interactive and guests are amazed by her. Can other GG lovers and keepers share pics and stories please?
  21. *loopy notes to self not to show husband this thread* Although even i think sticking a camera on a model would be cool. There was an RC magazine issue recently that had a spectacular photo taken by a spy plane of a magpie.
  22. i always found that mine love frozen shrimp. Brine shrimp for the fry. Breeding pairs like spawning behind a piece of slate leaning against the wall of the tank.
  23. We generally chat about anything. Doesn't need to be fish orientated. These meetings are targeted at being social and family friendly hence potluck tea. Kiddies are generally welcome (all depends on who's house it is). We are slowly getting a library set up with books on various aspects of the hobby. Also a good base for emergency items (thermostats, tanks, filters etc) Mr L
  24. snow is fun!! I will be there even if it is snowing (hahaha  )
