  2. Bugger.... I work next to 2 business with hiabs
  3. OH... that would make such a nice back wall for my fish room!
  4. TT fees will be annually $10 for persons under 18 years $15 for a single adult membership $20 for a family (no matter how disfunctional) membership
  5. thank you Zev! I am sure all the TT members that were at conference will agree that it was great to hear. I hope everyone will make good use of all the benefits of being affiliated to the FNZAS.
  6. I will add that she is learning to ring the bell on cue.
  7. *gobsmacked* I always wanted to know how many teeth a bangaii cardinal had!!

(across from Mitre 10) Bring along - something for a shared dinner. - some money for membership fees (because we are now affiliated!! **WooHoo**!!!) Got plenty to talk about! Grater boy

i just noticed that that kid wouldn't get too hurt playing on that slide because the grater bits are backwards
  10. Yeah definitely a fish, acts more like a dog most of the time.
  11. i was going to post saying giant gourami but then thought that for me "friendly/loyal/tame" would mean being able to put my hand in the tank. I don't dare do that with Juju. But she is the most responsive, intellegent, interactive and attentive fish i think i have ever seen. We have got her jumping a foot out of water on cue and she rings a bell. The kids play "tag" with her, and she knows when there is someone at the front door. Otherwise my close second vote will go to bettas. at least you can pat them and teach tricks and they are very responsive and interactive too
  12. Even abbrevs are better than nothing. but a full scientific name (if known) is awesome. Yes i noticed you had named the fish in a couple of your posts I would be very grateful if you would name the others too please? Big thanks to those who have edited their posts. HandS - You have some great apistos there! I have had my eye on Panduros for a while and they are growing on me!! Just gotta get the fish room sorted first
  13. Thank you Tiden. Was a big help. As it was i thought the pic you posted of the "Aequidens rivulatus/Green Terror " was just a blue acara. and my untrained eye would have called your "Melanochromis johannii " an electric yellow. A perfect example of why it pays to label your photos clearly. Even if you don't know what it is, if you state that fact, someone else may be able to id for you. p.s i love livingarts "yourguessisgoodasminikus" and Marklb's "Melanochromis Takeaguess"
  14. Can i just say firenzenz THANK YOU (and anyone else who did too)For naming the species of each fish in your photos. For someone who has a bit of trouble getting my head around all the african cichlid species and colour strains, it helps to know what you are looking at and browsing threads like this one are often an excellent way of learning what is what. I love admiring photos of fish but am increasingly fustrated when someone puts up beautiful photos of fish and doesn't say what they are. What is the point of showing something to people who can't fully appreiciate it because they don't know what they are looking at?
  15. aww yeah! love the pic of Eddie! He was a lovely companion on the trip to conference and back. I am glad i could help him get up there as he was worried he wouldn't make it this year and is sure he won't be going next year. He enjoyed himself of course and still doesn't really know what he is going to do with his light!
  16. oh and Rings beach looks gorgeous on google earth
  17. I think i am o"fish"ally "fished" out Thank you everyone for such a wonderful weekend. Can't wait for next year!! Also a bigTHANK YOU to Amazonian and Jimr. All the fish are doing great.
  18. i will let carsnkats know tonight. She has an established tank and may be very interested.
  19. see you all tonight!! :bounce: :bounce:
  20. 4 spuralina tabs roughly 15 minutes Giant gourami can now jump 1ft high out of the water for a tab. Shr doesn't really like jumping tho(i think because it requires a bit of effort  ) Had been thinking of getting a bell for her just out of the water attached to a suction cup to see if she will learn to ring it.
  21. yeah i suspect i am going to carry on dreaming but thought it is worth a shot asking. They are totally stunning fish and to see the male displaying when breeding is just ....WoW!!! (look up name on Youtube)
  22. cyathopharynx furcifer - the feather fin cichlid Are they present in NZ? I am compilng my wish list for once the fish room is setup. (need more poly to get underway tho)
