  1. Having a project of some sort (eg pet expo) seems to have proven to be a brilliant way to get everyone involved and give you a sense of purpose and a sense of achievment too!
  2. I also took photos of the development of DonnaMs Turtle Rescue site. Donna and company lining walls with large fiberglass pond in the foreground. Arranging the furniture. Can only be described as posing for the paparazzi. The advantage of being graciously given an additional day to set up meant that everyone else got distracted by us as they tried to set up themselves the next day. Basking on the island Attempting to escape (AGAIN). and being egged on by one of the other girls. This girl spent ALL day inspecting each corner of the pond and would occasionally succeed in climbing out. I picked her up a couple of times and she would just sit on my hand relaxed. She couldn't stand being in the pond where she couldn't see what was going on!
  3. STEP 5. Put pictures and posters etc on the pretty walls to hide them! lol STEP 6. Add more tanks and fill with water. (Leaky tanks don't seem to be as effective and are annoying to deal with at 10.30pm) STEP 7. Lights! so everyone can see how awesome your fish are. STEP 8. Install fish and plants and finishing touches. STEP 9. To be completed tomorrow..... ADD PEOPLE!!
  4. Badly behaved critters do not get the opportunity to come to the expo. I believe DonnaM can vouch for that too. A couple of her turtles have proven to be phenomenonly (sp) persistant at escaping the pond, and thus are being sent home. Muppet would be freaked out by all the excitement. She couldn't even handle being introduced to Gaara the Blue tounge lizard the other day. Caryl - the word "Article" has been mentioned and as for photos..........(is this classed as thread jacking?) HOW TO BUILD A TOTALLY TANKED SITE : STEP 1. Take one blank site... STEP 2. Make the walls pretty. STEP 3. Throw in some furniture. STEP 4. Begin installing tanks. (helpful if tanks magically appear by themselves!)
  5. I will hope you don't miss us! A hint: Look for the fish tanks!
  6. **cough** I think it will be worth it! I'll admit that maybe i am slightly biased in my opinion tho  The Totally Tanked crew have been plotting and scheming for months in regards to the Pet expo site we are hosting. Other than Donna and her Turtles, i am not sure what other fishy stuff will be there tho.
  7. Get a job at the nearest mail center and you will soon realise you are not the only one who does that! Ya get heaps every day. Fastpost with airmail stickers, airmail with fastpost stickers, both with NO stickers. and then there is all the variations on stamps etc. and the people who forget to put addresses on their letter (and no return address either  ) Mail sorters are not mind readers believe it or not!!
  8. does it include flights to and from auckland or do they only want the local exotic pet keepers to inquire? I reckon Muppet would love a trip to Aucland!
  9. I have just read all 12 pages of this thread and it is really reassuring to see i am not the only one in the world who adores their bird friend like i totally adore my Muppet. I feel even more alienated when my bird-friend is a lowly unwelcome magpie! It is heart-breaking to see friends, family and guests look upon your treasured baby with disdane and loathing when you understand that your feathered friend is one of the few things that can make you understand what they mean in fiction when they say "their heart soars". I adore all the little stories of quirks your bird-friends have. Just before i sat down here i was making myself a coffee and got distracted by Muppet tapping on the window trying to drink the condensation drips. She had just been drinking out of the gutter so i dunno why she thought she had to go for condensation too  She got bored with that and battlecried off to do her laps round the house. Which just puts me in hysterics because she battlecries with a wolf whistle at top volume. Wolf whistles are how she tells the neighbourhood she is awake every morning and then she sits in the tallest tree on our property and whistles her "Nah-nah-na-na-nah" and "Waltzing Matilda". She doesn't speak a word of real magpie, everything is just garbled variations of the above 3 tunes. thanks for this thread. put me in a good mood for the day. And congrats gem_scott on adding Petrie to your family. Have you thought of taking him for a look around the Pet Expo in August? Would be great to meet you and Petrie.
  10. Thanks Zev Hopefully now i will be kept more in the loop regarding many matters
  11. I have just discovered i have been missing a LOT of emails. I was getting fustrated and have been missing some important information. The reason is because my email address is being typed incorrectly. Even on the FNZAS website here. Can all people who have tried to email me please check that they have my address typed with **underscores** and not minus signs. (you need to hold shift down to get an underscore )
  12. Loopy

    name my rooster

All i can think of is "Mr Buck Buck"
  13. I don't think she saw the funny side of it for a while! I loved the behind the scenes tour! what a great lot of resources they have there! heaps of fun! Thankies Spidercles!
  14. tempting but she gets bored sitting in the car for too long.
  15. loopy will b there wen she finds her glasse. silly magpie thinks it funny to watch mum squint at eveything
  16. Now that it has been deemed acceptable i feel satisfied to post up a pic. I have had a request from John and Gael Eastwood for 2 of these! Hope you like it Bulldogod ...jus for you! Have thought about it....
  17. i'm home Muppet has thrown a mental at me for leaving. i have had waltzing matilda whistled at me a few times. Tis really rediculous having a ball of very angry black n white feathers whistling cheery tunes where is the **Pass-out-from-exhaustion** smilie?
  18. finally completed the design. Thanx Bulldogod for your photo inspiration. Your beardie made an excellent model/muse. Mystic has seen the final result and i am planing an unveilling at conference. Shame i can't remember who it was that made the initial request for a tribal beardie design.
  19. na na na na na! My conference journey has already begun. drove to picton yesterday and across the ferry to welly. Ferry crossing was nothing to write home about imo. Visited Mystic and her amazing fishies today. Roll on the rest of the week!! :bounce:
  20. Hand reared bird for sure. especially if you do the hand rearing yourself. Birds can be SO cuddly. They are all very clever, interactive and entertaining. Plenty of varieties to choose from. Budgies, lorikeets, or contact your nearest animal rescue center and put your name down for a orphaned bird. then you have even more options. Sparrows, blackbirds, starlings (awesome pets) magpies For a bird that gets so much bad press for being "aggressive" this Muppet is such a mammas bird! Cuddly and borderline seperation anxiety!
  21. SPARE SEAT FROM CHCH!!!!!!!!!! Ferry booked for car and 2 people however my passenger can nolonger go. Peops from down south (or South Island) who want to go, if you can get to chch I'll take ya unless I can grab you on the way!!
  22. Thanks for the advice folks! Just bought myself a Navman S100 :bounce: Now i can feel confident that i will not get lost on my way up to the Conference.
  23. This is going to be the trip of a lifetime for me! I always seem to make the conferences an excuse to have new experiences. Napier conference was the first time i ever visited the North Island, travelled on the ferry AND flew in an airplane. Amongst other things, "Top of the South" last year was the longest drive i have ever done by myself, first time i had been to Nelson that i remember and first holiday i had ever take where i felt i was really in charge of everything. This year i am driving with my best friend the WHOLE way to the Coromandel! and back again. So we will be taking in all the sights and having a ball! Been waiting all year for this time to come and in two weeks i am gonna be bouncing like this lil fella :bounce: in excitement!
  24. But you can say "huh?" without the "?" What sound does a "?" make? Can you say "?" ? Poor Living Art for never being able to say what he really wants to (assuming, of course, that he really does want to say "?")
