  1. Here's an update before Xmas of my tank. I have added a few corals to my tank with thanks to all that helped me select them. Here's a couple of pictures of what my tank looks like: I'm very happy with the setup, but I do think it looks more 3D looking from the side of the tank and quite 2D from the front. I'll put up a photo soon looking from the side. Here's some closeups of the corals... Candy Cane Coral Another type of Candy Cane Green Toadstool Hammer Coral Horn Coral (Hydnophora) Zoanthus - definately wanting more different coloured ones! And last of all a White and Brown coloured Xenia. All have been in the tank between 1-2 weeks. By the way, the colours have not been touched up.
  2. Sorry to gate crash this thread, but it does have some relevance. Has anyone tried the Red Sea +3 supplements (It has Iodine, Calcium and Trace Elements all in one bottle) ? It says to put in 1 teaspoon a week to keep the levels. Cheers.
  3. Thanks guys. I'll give it a go. One of my Mushrooms is up high so gets a lot of light so wanted it to be moved lower. Cheers!
  4. Is it possible to move a mushroom from one LR to another LR? If so, how can I do this? Thanks.
  5. Don't get things started again Wasp!!
  6. I thought this was Warwick's thread? By the sounds of it, whatever you choose, it will be fine either way.

    Massive crab

It almost looked like a circular saw cutting it to pieces just that the pieces disappeared!
  8.    Very good Wasp. The protein skimmer will get all the dead skin out of the water. Not sure on hair though.
  9. I've done this with a set of 5 very bright blue led's from DSE. Check out my thread in SALTWATER for a picture. I've connected them onto a variable 24V power adapter and set it up on a timer. Works really well, and easy to make.
  10. As above, what do you do with your marine tank when you are on holiday for 1-2 weeks?
  11. Get this book. It helped me a lot and I've just started a few months back. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/189008 ... e&n=283155 The New Marine Aquarium: Step-By-Step Setup & Stocking Guide (Paperback) by Michael S Paletta.
  12. So far $1700. And that's supposed to be on a budget but without compromising quality. i.e. a VW Golf than a VW Panda.
  13. Plastic teeth are expensive. Bought some from HFF. That's why I cut my own out. Maybe bigger slots than HFF, but does the trick. Later can add mesh if critters go over.
  14. I don't think there are much difference, except that getting glass could be a little bit cheaper, but getting the teeth for the top could be a problem. Also you might like the overflow to not show the piping so you will need it tinted which will cost a lot. I got my acrylic overflow from Modern Plastics. Wasn't that expensive and then cut my own teeth out for the overflow top. Choose whatever colour and whether you want it solid or see thru. Give them a call and get a quote. Can buy any thickness.
  15. If my wife saw this she'd never get close to the tank! As it is with the relatively small worms I have compared to those monsters, she's glad I'm looking after it and not her!
  16. I think it was the head I decapitated. Will I need to take out the LR and try to flush the rest of the body out? I'm scared that it will rot in the LR. I've learnt my lesson Next time it will be a trap.
  17. Well I managed to grab hold of the big one. Boy was it strong!! Unfortunately when pulling I only got about 1.5cm of it before it cut off. What now????
  18. Hi Wasp, I wasn't planning on picking it up with my fingers! They look creepy enough just looking at it!! I'll definately use my extender pinchers. Cheers
  19. That's nice Brian... I was just eating my lunch when I read your post!
  20. I bought some Joes Juice in the weekend and Yeip it sure did the job! Last night looking at the tank, I notice I have 2 bristle worms and one of them is quite long! I'm going to try and catch that one and take it out. Small I can handle but when they are getting too big, I think they need to go out. Anyone interested in having a long bristle worm? Maybe cut it up and feed to your fish? Let me know before tonight or else I will nuke it.
  21. Damn So what's a good way to deal with this pest?
  22. So Brian... are you saying that if I cut it off the LR, it will grow back on the LR?
  23. Is it possible to just use a knife and cut it off the LR?
  24. Hmm.. Yes Jetski did say there was a type of anenome that he noticed on one or two of his LR that should be removed. I'll definately check with him. Thanks Wasp. I may go down to Taka again on Saturday arvo to collect water to do a water change. Are you keen again? or is it too soon for you?
