  1. That's one very nice tank Ghostface. And without sand!
  2. Hmmm... Tough call. If I get the Eheim, I'll have to wait for 2-3 weeks for it to arrive, but if I get a Laguna, I can get it straight away. Also... Eheim 1262 - 3400l/h - 80W Laguna 4 - 3600l/h - 55W Leaning more to Laguna, more output and less wattage. Or should I wait for an Eheim? :-?
  3. Which is better, an Eheim or Laguna? I can get either of them - approx same litres/hour for ralatively the same price. What's your preference?
  4. My question is, how big does the QTank need to be. I do have a spare small tank about 300x 260 x 260mm. Wouldn't QT stress them, then moving them to the main tank?
  5. Stirring the pot are you?
  6. That's pretty cool Cracker. Goes well with your name. Not a relative? All you need now is a Goby to pair it up with.
  7. That might do temporarily until I can get a 1262. Really want to get the lights next.
  8. Done and working perfectly. Thanks for your help. Problem now is that the Eheim 1250 is not powerful enough!!! I need to upgrade already!!! Looks like I might need an Eheim 1262 but it's 80watts. Are there any other decent pumps that are cheaper and uses less watts?
  9. Good thinking Cracker. I'll do that. Thanks.
  10. That's what I had originally, but Pies said to take it off and use the clips instead. Has the screw on worked for you ok?
  11. Did my water test today which is really scary! It is dripping where I have the clips on. Any suggestions on how to stop this besides from tightening the clips even more? Thanks

    sand

Might be a silly question, but is there a reason why you wouldn't use the sand from a beach?

    sand

Would people recommend having a 50/50 mix (or other ratio) of aragonite and coral sand?
  14. Ok, I'll test with fresh water first. It's actually the end of a long bench. It has the leg in the front, a V bracket at the back and sitting to the left is a filing cabinet underneath which will help support it. I may have a photo of the whole setup and you will probably see the filing cabinet to the left.
  15. Ok, I've finished building my tank with plumbing. I know the plumbing is not the best, but you have to work with what you've got and what you're allowed to do! But overall I'm quite happy with it. My Biostar Flotor skimmer is coming and that will be in the sump. The online shop I ordered it from sent me the wrong one And I will be getting the Atman lighting from Ben very soon, I hope Here's the pics... Back view of the plumbing... View of the sump. There is plastic tubing at the end of the Hansens. They hadn't been put on when I took this photo... May have to go down to the beach this weekend to get some NSW and see how my setup runs.
  16. Great shots! What are Valonias?
  17. Hi JoandWilly Check out my thread on some ideas. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/start- ... t9619.html I recommend getting the Hansen tank fittings(bulkheads(US talk)) from Mitre 10. You can get them from Mico, but I find if they don't give you trade or discount, then they can be more expensive than Mitre 10. Have a look at my link to see pictures of what it looks like. Also checkout http://www.melevsreef.com/allmysumps.html for sump ideas. Good luck.

    Food

If you really want the low down on feeding mostly Corals and fish second, see this link on Eric Borneman and his recipe http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... did=176530
  19. I have seen products similar to the X-10 at Jaycar in Khyber Pass Rd, Auckland. Drop in there and check it out. I'm not 100% sure whether it will do what you want, but worth a look.
  20. I've just been reading about Fluorescence in corals. Any of you guys looked into this? Here's the link to RC http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-11/r ... /index.php
  21. Better still wear special chemical gloves.
  22. 100 is a lot, unless you can flog some off to fish shops. I know. Just make a label called "JETSKI Fish Buckets" "Made specifically to collect NSW or to use for water changes" "Fish friendly". They should sell like hot cakes and the LFS will probably sell them for 400% markup!
  23. LOL Yes, it happens to all of us.... eventually! Women can be soo evil!
  24. Yeah Chimera, forget about reducing the LR, just get a bigger tank!
  25. That's good to hear. I'll sus it out with the guy first then if it's ok with him, give you guys his e-mail. Cheers
