  1. I have to say this..... No it's the Fish dimension! :bounce: :bounce:
  2. Also, before feeding to fish, is there something you can give them to digest so it is more beneficial to the fish?
  3. Did you have any air stone in the bucket to circulate the water? Or is the bucket just left outside without any other interference?
  4. One other thing that I've noticed, when I reduce the temperature - currently 25-26C they stop breeding. When it is between 26-28C they are like rabbits! So I'm expecting some during the summer months. Make sure you do feed them Zuccini's as they really like them and it's like an afrodisiac for LOVE.
  5. What I have done to stop the waterfall noise from the outflow on the right is to cut a small piece of the fibrous foam filter stuff (the filter that you have on the very top of the white pads) and place it on top of the hole on the top. This will allow the water to flow down the tube quieter. It works a treat and you will be able to hear the TV
  6. Like I said the other day, you need a portable air con unit! Yesterday was the hottest day so far for me. My tank reached 26.4C and my tropical reached 27C!
  7. Not on the North Shore. You need to invest in a UPS
  8. Did they just appear in your sump or can you actually buy some eggs then grow them? As you may have guessed, I'm interested in breeding them in my sump. I currently have copepods in the main tank, but none in the sump.
  9. Has anyone managed to grow their own Mysis in their sump? What other live foods can you grow yourself in the sump to feed your fish/inverts?
  10. Sorry Speed, but don't have enough snails myself to give away. I have just started my tank on the 1st of December 2005, but going really well and am very happy with what I've achieved. See my thread at http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/start-of-helifaxs-tank-lots-of-pictures-vt9619.html I'll be getting some live stock soon to hopefully help cleanup the tank of diatoms and worms! Once I'm organised, I'll get you over.
  11. Hi Speed, I got an Atman M600 from Ben and it is fantastic! I like how it has the 150W and 2 blues in a very compact package. The MH that comes with the unit is a nice colour and doesn't need to be changed, although if you wanted to you could replace with a Radium 150W. I have a 91 litre Cube Nano with a sump below. The height of the water is 45cm. Distance from top of water to light is 25cm. The corals I have in there are really enjoying themselves. Have a look at my thread "Start of Helifax's Tank". The only thing I didn't like about the Atman is that it does not have a separate power plug for each of the lights, so you can't have a separate timer for the MH and Blue lights. SO I modified the light and now I have two separate power plugs each with their own on/off switches. Reasonably easy to do. This allows me to now stagger when each light comes on which is far better for the corals and fish.
  12. WOW that is amazing! That Octopus must be huge!

    Reef Booster

Reef had some Coral Food for $50 at one stage. Don't know whether it is the same type of stuff. Reef?
  14. I wonder whether it is some form of phosphate remover?
  15. Hi, does anyone know where I can get a hermit crab as part of the clean up crew for brown algae and diatoms? Cheers.
  16. It is a nice tank. I do like the clam they have. I did take a video of their tank. I must digitise it and post the link. They have on the right a dump wave maker.
  17. Had a really close look and the strands are coming from something else outside of the Xenia. Looks to be as Cookie said. Doesn't seem to be causing any harm to any of the corals at this stage so I'll leave it as is. Thanks for the info Cookie! Well spotted.
  18. I'll have another look and try to take a picture. These strands are very fine.
  19. I've recently noticed my brown Xenia has long thin strands coming out of it during the day and night. It retracts in on occasions, but have seen it out majority of the time. Anyone know what it is doing and whether it will harm any other corals(so far haven't noticed my mushroom having problems, and it touches it regularly)? Thanks.
  20. Wasp will see you right. He gave me some for my tank and they're like little rabbits, in-fact, probably worse! Do keep majority of the tank clean though.
  21. Watchout guys, it could be a HUGE Aptaisia!!! I want a picture of it first.
  22. If that's an Enzo, I've already got one... Did I mention that it's a Mini RC version that's only 5cm long??
  23. I did try using 2 durso configuration at the back, but found it was too noisy so I changed to one, BUT the other one where you have the L shape pipe pointing down, I have this pointing up, which means IF the main durso pipe gets blocked, the second one will be like a drain pipe! Had tested it out and it works really well and you have piece of mind too! If you have a look at the first picture of the main tank, you can just see the configuration.
  24. Thanks guys for your comments. It's great to know that you've done something right! But time will tell. Still early days. Still have fish to put in, but will wait for the new year after holidays.
