so the trick is to stick it on with silicon and also seal the surface with silicon?
-
in TM you get them and they say wont rust. i assume they are plated with something does anyone know what they are plated with? i want to get one of my fake plastic logs, and silicone these magnets at the bottom and have another set outside the tank and secure it against the glass so it 'sticks ' to the glass creating a cave against the glass. like your glass scrubbers:D thanks

they are a mix size. but generally, able to hold their own. they are all bigger than what smaller panaques and plecs get to as a max size though.

I find that plecos adjust well to clown loaches. i have approximately 40 to 50 clown loaches. Sorry cant count exactly. they are also quite large, and the plecos tend to come out and be very aggressive with food as the clowns tend to be very active and hungry. Trick is, i just ensure there is enough food that the clown loaches cant finish them, the plecos tend to. My sailfin is the final vaccuum cleaner. He doesnt bother competing - but at the end, he cleans up, always a nice round belly, growing steadily. Sunshine is the most active with the cactus pleco. , blue phantom as well. the biggest royal pleco is also third most active.

If I could I'd have a pet .....

just because its not here doesnt mean its a danger to NZ wildlife. THere are many specimens we could have that wont pose a threat to our birdlife here. The fact is that simply, MAF do not want to bother allowing species in as it is not in their priority. Really, and i somewhat agree.... if you have the whole country to run, why bother with a few hobbyists? reptiles are probably somewhat quite adaptable - and MAY survive, even thrive. in the examples of fish. There are fish specimens that will NEVER thrive here, temperature alone will kill them in an instant. Some of those can be allowed it. Also compliance. Example is the asian arowana, requires 'extra' attention and maf fees. WHY? these fish will probably die with in 10 minutes of being introduced to our waterways which are so cold almost all year round. Iguana - it is a vegetarian, and lives and thrives in tropical equatorial environments. This thing is unlikely to thrive here, i mean, their eggs wont even hatch in our temperatures. just my thoughts -
yeah, but just needing to re shuffle wood and if needed a few pieces:D the addiction doesnt stop you know! how do i hang them?

:rotf:

flagtail would surely destroy them, royal plecos tend to chew anything plant like - there are 4 in there. but the wood middle pilke sound sok any examples of pictures? links?

where do i get it? -
saw someone have this, you just stick the propeller end like glass cleaner, and the magnet drives it from outside the tank. can anyone help me track one down? OR alternatively, the magnetic mount for the sun sun wavemakers frequently found on trademe. THanks

depending on how much you get at a time, it may be cheaper to get it from hollywood fish farm. unless you import in bulk, but its better to have fresher food i think.

just my 2 cents, i have recently found an escalated obsession with fancy plecos. I found that Any panaque (wood eaters) are extremely dirty:D pick your plecos right! wood is key too, not just fibre, but ifound most plecos work on a 'line of sight' aggression. so far i have found no persistent chasing, its more..."get off my log and ill leave you alone" so make sure there are plenty of hiding spots, they like hiding and if you dont hvae enough, fights break out:D also , plenty of food, or else fights also break out!

they are pretty hardy, can live in cold and tropical waters! kinda like snakeheads but not as agro

http://www.hailea.com/e-hailea/product2/E20000.htm to throw spanner in the works, for a godo price, basically same as the sun suns, but with better warranty, spare parts and impeller as well as its sold by hollywood fish farm which means i have peace of mind i was thinking of this, it woudl not only future proof my return pump requirements, but it would is good wattage. i would have to put a bypass valve before it goes to the outlets to feed back into sump if flow is too great.

System 1x 600 litres (2 outlets) - 3k - 3.5k lph turnover 1x 1200 Litres (3 outlets) - 5k - 5.5k lph turnover TOTAL TURNOVER: 8k to 9k lph turnover compensating for age of pumps - 6500 to 7000 lph turnover of system Sump: 200 litres total wattage for pumps is approx 200w to 220w currently i have 4x return pumps, 2x 3600lph pump (2000lph approx at 2 metres. 2500 lph 1.5m) 1x 1500lph pump (1k lph approx at 1.5 metres) 1x 6000 lph pump (3600lph approx at 2metres) - warrens old pump, confirming output with him, but if i recall this is right. i have recently fixed my sump capacity issues, i can now pump through the flow at will. i am thinking 1) consolidate, 1 massive pump http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=458640179 165w total, would save me money in the long run - increase flow all around as well whcih is what i want, more flow! By doing this i would construct a type of 'switch board'. a basic system that distributes water to the 5 hoses i have going into my 2 tanks. each outlet has a tap that would regulat the flow, i am more concerned about the flow to the 600 litre, overflow surface is smaller so wont handle as much flow, the 1200litre can handle much more. (NOTE: most pumps come with a bypass valve to ultimately reduce flow if its too great.) OR 2) 2 pumps, one for each tank. getting rid of 3 return pumps, use my big one currently for the 600 litre and get a biggish one, not a monster for m y 1200litre. If i could have all feedback with pros and cons of both set ups. would be awesome, im torn, i mean i can make it work with both. ultimately, fiscally speaking the 1 pump makes sense, am i missing something?
-
they have energy efficient pumps now. haqos seems like it has a nicer website, sunsun doesnt have a site at all. any feedback?
-
yeah, i can try to catch godzilla i fyou want
-
Ill sell you godzilla for $1000...... true story true story!

80 per fish is steep, but they are awesome fish! invasive though, so really keeping them may cost you dearly. having them in a small size is quite cool though, so you can see it grow, rapidly im sure. they are hungry fellas. i am getting planetcats to ID the fish to be sure. but someone has said that it is a north american catfishs pecies most likely, which would indicate, it is a bullhead. make sure you get an email from maf to say its ok

inline? what you mean inline, you mean a inline pump out of the water forcing water through the canister instead? so in effect you replaced the aquaone impeller with a external pump and used the canister as a cartridge ? am i making sense? lol i just got another return pump from fruju, unused return pump as he has no more sump. increased the turnover of my red aro tank by approx extra 20% (hard to gauge but i gauge by the diffisuser containers water retention) this splits the water into 4 paths to distribute into the 4 filter socks. this container tells me how fast the turn over is by the level it fills up. rudementary system of telling the increase but better than nothing, also the overflow is no longer just over flowing, it is now a gushing waterfall, the water arcs away from the top as before it was just crawling down the glass wall. (wonder if that makes sense again) :digH:

fx5 flows top towards the bottom, cleanest water is at the bottom. but i know the principle you are getting at:D i am just wondering if there is a merit in using course sponge in my fx5, not about prolonging wool life but more taking debris quicker out of the water, so even fi i put course sponge, all that will do is prolonge my cleaning process, so thats not what im after.
