  1. great, so lets do it everyone! i suggested they jsut sent me a thanks for suggesting response, but i think if more people do it, its practical too! i am sick and tired of looking for 'massive tanks' and its not ll
  2. ok, been browsing trademe and figured out, peoples view of 'huge tank' or 'very large tank' is somewhat skewed! i figured, to avoid all issues, i recommended to trademe to categorise tanks to LITRES ranges. eg: 100 to 200 200 to 300 etc. anyways, if enough people submit that suggestion, it will happen:D
  3. Stop wanting an aro and get an aro:D No drop eye at all, no sign of it. asian aros are not as prone to drop eye as silvers. i believe when the asian aros get to 5 to 6 year mark, they MAY be more prone to this, but to be honest, it doesnt affect their health or feeding and wont bother me that much. by 5 to 6 years mark, this arowana will be so red and orange as well, drop eye will be irrelevant lol i just have stable water - temperature fluctuation is minimal (no mroe than 1 degree) and that helps its appetite to be stable too I am very excited to have the oscars and parrot grow big enough to have with the red. the red tank currently only have bottom dwellers, tank can look quite 'empty' though its not, it seems it - oscars should add life to it
  4. Age is approximately 18 months - i have had it for exactly 1 year:D Current size - 48 cm Diet is MP stuffed with massivore, eats 2 to 3 whole MP a day. Tank mates - PLENTY May 2011 May 2012 May 2011 May 2012 With tanning lights: Close up cheek shot: future tank mates: 5 oscars - albino tigers 2x parrots My male flowerhorn: Royal pleco in red aro tank: (total of 6x L190 royal plecos) this is the largest
  5. I hear in mexico, you can find the answer to this......
  6. Lol be careful, the males are particularly fiesty....
  7. http://www.thatpetplace.com/algae-wafers-3oz http://www.thatpetplace.com/sinking-cic ... -mini-12oz here are the 2 ingredients list wiht the 2 pellets, both are based on formulations for vegetarian fish. Main difference is that algae wafers as 5% fibre and the other has 3% fibre. jus wondering though, looking at the ingredients, do you think that the sinking excel is a good alternative - not staple but say, alternate, just to reduce cost of feeding. I wanna stick wtih hikari - all my fish react better to them, but seeing if i can cut down cost, excell is half price or less to algae wafers. i would say, i would probably alternate with the 2. any feed back would be great if its not a good idea, i would stick with algae wafers. excel i find to have pretty much the same ingredients, proportion is just slightly diferent, i am told the first ingredients to appear generally in order is more in the food.
  8. I'll be completely honest with ya, what you wrote just then ... is somewhat disturbing lol i mean, i am not disturbed, but its hilarious! :slfg:
  9. Flowerhorns are extremely notorious for this also. my last FH that i bred, and david would testify to this, the male really really roughs up the female, the female eventually died of her wounds.
  10. they can definitely switch pairs. i had 21 in one tank once nd they would constantly switch. trick is to add more or take out the culprit that attacks. like any cichlids, once in a while you ge ta 'problem' fish. just remove it

    Loaches

yes, i think they would eat it.
  12. Nah, lets see what happens:D lol the tank needs some mid swimming fish - and you know how it is, just gotta try different things lol turning fx5s into mechanical focused filtration is working well. sump takes care of bio plenty enough - just need a different look and direction for now:D
  13. i could, have a budget though of $25 bux per fish, so starting small or bargains lol that is a nice piece though! its a tiger oscar right? also from auckland mark -
  14. if you can find me a school of tinfoils, ill be more than grateful lol they are extremely hard to come by IN NZ. i mean they are common overseas, i dont understand why they are not imported more, they are hardy, and cheap, in fact, almost same price as normal tinfoils as they are not considered that novelty around the world lol yeah, i think albino group would be cool.... or at least a white based body would be interesting. i have never been a huge fan of wild type fish lol fh, a group COULD work but would have to be a big group, i mean big, extremely dense group. i got my wife (weird, she is now my wife) that term is so weird lol another parrot cichlid, this one has a functional mouth so should grow quite big, it can actually swallow whole hikari sticks! whcih is weird for parrots i found. extrmely red too so should grow nicely. im thinking 4 oscars or so?
  15. seeing that oscars are only $20 ish bux, i decided after seeing some comm videos on youtube that a small group of oscars will look good with my red aro. acquired a nice 12 to 15cm almost pure white albino tiger. now i cant decide. should i get a small school of just albinos, or should i mix it up with 1 normal tiger 1 normal red 1 albino tiger (or 2) my fav 1 albino red.... Or just get all albino strains pictures coming thursday with update of my aro (weird i know but my friend has the nice camera and skills lol )
