  1. when it comes out more, ill take a very clear pic but not sure if its that gold... what is the difference?
  2. ill try to get one its becoming more active and interested in food, it will start to come out and feed soon. that white bit on the tail - it definitely does not hve that. the tail is consistent with the colouring of the body... if that makes sense haha
  3. if they are albinos, i want some!
  4. no, doesnt look like that royal is that a dull eye? dull eyes get bigger dont they? dont feed home made food anymore, too messy:D feeding sinking wafers and algae wafers, but transitioning to algae wafers for maximum pleco benefit
  5. ill get a tail pic when i can. window in the tail? ?? ill get a pic when it comes out:D definitely more greenish in appearance
  6. what type of royal is that Jamo? you said there were two types of royal
  7. as well as these, i have 2 long fin BNs - cant catch them so decided to keep it. small tiny normal sailfin and a golden black eye bn - kinda grew on me:) here are my larger plecs. My new L190 (I think) - settling in, i decided to put it into the main tank as it has worked well for every other pleco i have had, becomes more active, plenty of hiding spots in there. Cactus - a pig! Sunshine - actually all of them have become pigs Large polka dot Blue Phantom Albino Sailfin - the only one i never see eating but always has a fat belly, who knows what it eats! keeps growing too.
  8. i wouldnt get it id ont believe that has room for bio media apart from the 'cartrige' whcih i dont belive will be substantial. for a fish tank, go for an fx5! unbeatable in value and performance. you pay twice for eheims, good but twice! and you dont get twice the filtration. sump is good but not good for mechanical. fx5, clarity is fantastic

    Tea Tree

i use ti tree all the time. good thing bout them is that they will sink rapidly but they do emit LOTS of resin. i would suggest, soak it till it sinks. Then leve it in the sun to scorch, and then soak it again. This has worked well for me but the fish love them, they look nice with a good lighter colour than the malaysian hardwood you get in the fish shops. branches also sinkquickly
  10. dont know the difference! when i take a pic eventually, you can tell me:D when it starts to feed

  12. yeah, i keep debating with in myself. all the other plecs i got, i put with the others, and with in a day or two, feeding and active. royal isnt at all, my old royal was very active as well competing always. ill wait a bit then maybe move it. see how it goes.
  13. this is gonna put my new socks to the test! i am in the process of trialling and replacing my current filter socks configuration old set up: 100 micron with 40 cm length of sock replacing with : 50 micron but 75 cmsd sock length i figured, can i get the same life or more and better clarity? royal should help test it:D
  14. its a mix of cultural, ill-educated mentality and apathy. like that video of that little girl ran over twice, everyone ignores her. its cultural apathy. there is more to worry about in their country than a little turtle. animal welfare is a first world priority and problem doesnt mean i agree with it, in fact i hate it too, though i have no issue with killing animals for food if they are not endangered, im no hippie, but this is stupid, plain and simple.
  15. i have the red aro tank wtih: cactus blue phantom large albino sailfin large snowball gold bn large ish sunshine plec the grow out has small sailfin, small long fin bn and royal should i just mix the small sailfin and royal in the red tank? maybe this will trigger a really competitive environment. *note, food is NEVER a shortage!! they will get food when ever it is feeding time. trying tog et the roayl to be competitive and eat more grow faster. feedback would be great.
  16. trying! pic of other plecs or the royal? royal isnt eating yet
  17. i cant take pics, the royal is hiding int he wood lol
  18. just tried the hikari wafers. man!!! crazy! the plecos instantly like it lol all but 1 has started chomping already. beauty about it is that the disc doesnt break apart and leaves water cleaner and filter life longer. royal hasnt eaten yet but its only been 1 day
  19. on a note, china has no sweeping animal welfare act like we do and most HUMANE countries have. that is why this goes on. it is a testament to the backward - savagery of those places really. i went to thailand, and saw 10 figure 8 puffers for sale for less than 10 nzd, sitting on the side of the road in a small bag under the sun. 8 of the 10 are dead, bloated, the other two surely is about to die. this is the practice there. if they make sweeping changes tot he law and ban this, but in saying that, all those asian govt are extremely corrupt... not Taito philip field - do me some tiling and ill help you get residence corrupt but... TRULY corrupt... as in. "Pay men 100 bux and ill turn my head away as you commit a horrendous crime' type of corrupt. so wont make a difference
  20. of course but as a general rule, these sort of practices are not accepted in more 'caucasian' countries. america MIGHT have a small portion of it but even then, its frowned upon. in asia, pretty much everything goes. look at this http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/04/14/china.animal.keyring/index.html only a group of crazy people would think this is ok. these animals are actually sentenced to death, there is absolutely no way for them to survive long term, its disposable animals really. This sort of practice would NEVER be accepted in countries that are not asian, ONLY in asian countries, maybe african nations you would see such atrocities.
  21. THis is a very asian thing. Unfortunately, generally speaking, asian countries regard animal welfare as one of the last priorities. Which is really quite funny, cos their main religions such as buddhism prohibits such animal cruelty yet they practice it daily i have had many arguments on the arofanatics.com forum, predominantly asians there - keeping arowanas in 120x50x50 tanks! thinking its ok. this is common. i have seen large arowanas in 4 foot tanks with water only about 30 cm deep.... many of their beliefs in this regard is based largely on supestition and old wives tales. This sort of practice is common, anything for 'good luck or good fortune' asians are one of the easiest people to market to, all you gotta drop is FENG SHUI and something to do iwth money and happiness. *disclaimer, i am asian myself and have a very good insight to this culture, so in case you label me racist, im immune to such things:)
  22. seeing that im a HIKARI fan through and through, i will give hikari a try first. jus bought my first batch gonna try to convert my clown loaches to algae wafers, they should benefit from the fibre and vege content too, but at same time, benefit my plecos
