  1. last night was alive, thismorning, freshly dead. sad day:( i have had him approx 5 years, got him when he was 60cm. measured at 74cm at death. i approximate 8 to 10 years old. wonder what the expectancy is. had a good life, lots of prawns, some beef, some pellets.... dissected it, as i thought maybe swallowed a clown loach. stomach is empty. completely empty, no blockages.
  2. lol i t hink that was a joke savings. insulation. thats the best way. i saved a bit using jager heaters and with my auto changer, it utilises the eheims thermostat self checks, this saved me quite a bit, at the time it saved me about 15% of my power useage, using a measurement device to get a good average for 2 weeks and comparing after auto changer is put in.
  3. WOWOW!!!!!!! holy wow how much would you charge if i gave you an exo terra terarium and make it like that, identical? just curious.....i could provide some of the wood as i would have a large collection of wood that may suit... thats nuts! imagine a tank like that! what animal are you putting in there?
  4. dunno - could be just luck, there were many, many of those probably isnt on the forum and will eventualy sell, i reckon in 1 year we will see. but i am at a point where i have realised, i cant breed them as i dont have tanks. shame to just keep it and not breed.... so may see if one day i end up selling the male, he is a unsuitable candidate for my tank - i dont want it to be a 'survivor' type situation:D see how it goes. fraser is keen on taking him and trying to breed....
  5. well, might as well get the ball rolling!! looking forward to seeing what is out there!! but i find that sometimes pleco keepers tend to be quiet on their collections lol

  7. ok, might try the bag around a coat hanger... see if it works. if not then ill use fine net. but yeah, bag is ideal i reckon
  8. yeah, my tank is tall and i cant physically get a bag to open up wit out being held open. mmmm
  9. agreed! sorry i didnt know that people argued like that lol but ok, fair call
  10. i find that nets tangle with plecos barbs and spikes/spines. what sort of net is good, fine nets or the big hole nets for fishing? i figure the big hole nets wont tangle with their spines.... any thoughts? i wanna avoid having a net tangle with the plecs when catching them
  11. also, picture would help confirm L numbers in case that was misidentified.
  12. Mods, shall i start a new topic? and we can sticky that we need to ensure its not a 'discussion thread' that its merely a 'reporting thread' pictures too. so we just tell people what we have, maybe one has a male, one has a female - and people can breed them even!
  13. also, maybe feed more? i find that triggers my fish to spawn, discus, FH. make sure filtration is up to it!
  14. Why not just wipe this, then start again. fresh...
  15. How about just start another. most of the posts are so old, they would probably be irrelevant anyways.
  16. ok cool good to know whoop!
  17. according to that website, 2 to 3.9 is 'safe' 4 plus is VERY SAFE so.... would you say a safety factor of 2.5 is good? or what how does it work?
  18. is this website accurate? http://www.theaquatools.com/building-your-aquarium
  19. yeah, cant mix 2 aros though even in big tank. i want 2 aros:D
  20. haha i am unsure if i will do a mega pond, realistically, i would only want a comm of gold, rtg, green and red aros. but that will cost... well, i would hae to make a pact with the devil for my soul, kidney and maybe my first born child... realistically, i t hink my next tank will be a 2000L tank and current 1200L will be a XB tank. It doesnt end

  25. yeah, but it will narrow down at least, even if you account that 50% of the population is stupid, its still a better hit rate:D
