  1. i hate plecos too but i have them cos they seemt o eat scraps and sift through poo and suck the poo out o the ground in case there is left over food which is better but, i hate plecos too silver dollars look like piranhas, hence why i like them if pomeranians looked like piranhas i would like them too
  2. sounds good but the clown can be aggressive as i found out it beat the shit out of my jardinii and jars are aggressive fish but i guess if they grow together its ok and if the tank is big enough ornates are fine, silverdolalrs are fine, if anytihng the aro will pick on the silver dollars
  3. buy a cheap aqua one these turtles dont exactly live in perfect water in nature in fact these sometimes live in muddy stagnant water. but obviosuly you want peace of mind a cheap aqua one 100 bux willdo the trick even a cheaper internal for 40 bux i used to have turtles, never ever had problems, grew healthy, strong and very hungry and all i had was an internal
  4. that aro looks like its strong and grumpy:D very thick! cool i also want silver, oscar and clown fish in my 8 foot when i get it
  5. with a 2grand fish above, i wouldnt even risk any tank mates apart from a pleco:D
  6. i just got told that they can red tail cat fish in to the country legally ......
  7. cool well they look like sharks and call them sharks
  8. just wondering can fish generally smell i know most fish do, but some i dont know can jardinii and silver aro smell things? or do they taste? cos sometimes my jar is hungry, i put a prawn, eats it up then i put ox heart, then it goes near it, about to strike, and swims away seemingly doesnt like the smell, i mean it cfould see it before going close but it goes close anyways, but when it got close to its mouth, it ignores it.
  9. i guess someone told me that im a new bie to a marine tank just got my new one but im getting tha tmassive 1200l tank, its got a wet dry filter system trickle filter so asking might change the configuration a little bit thoughw hen i start using it so its good but no essential i have never had a wet dry and never had filtration problems
  10. i think they are from the mekong freshwater sharks search them theres plenty ill give a you tube link
  11. trhats a good point but they dont harm humans in fact they dont have the teeth structure of sw sharks so its ok they have gummy mouths with rasps more than anything if anything if they try to bite you, you can see it as a exfoliating treatment win win situation:d
  12. i wish i could get a freshwater shark. just saw you tube video of a 1.5 foot fw shark! i remember philippines my older brother had one. so cool! i wihs nz has freshwater sharks in its rivers lol
  13. enough said thanks for that:) just curious ive never had any wet dry before even with heavily stocked tanks no problems but yeah i guess it would give a beter peace of mind
  14. everyone knows i just bought a tank, it comes with a spa pool cartridge filter that goes into a trickle filter 'wet dry' . i know for marine this is important. but most canister filters which usually is ok for FW, doesnt have wet dry facility. everything is just in the water. what advantage does this have? is it needed? why have wet dry?
  15. im also googling but just wondeirng if people can give me theirs, or others tanks, or any links of tank pics. rocky with some wood set ups for my 1200litre thanks
  16. breed asian or silver arowana asian arowana needs a messive pond outside silvers need a massive tank they will breed in tanks
  17. depends what fish you keepin eheims are expensive, you looking at 400 plus trademe has cheaper ones that will do the trick but if you have and wanna spend the money eheims will give you the peace of mind you want!
  18. there is one at hf albany it was a red rim on its tail but most i see is a spot on the tail, a grey bluish one and a gold
  19. hi there i have seen a golden one, one thats slightly grey bluish in colour, what other species is avail? one at HFF albany has like a reddish tail on trademe ther eis one with a spot on its tail
  20. still cant decide now, i just bought a massive tank. 1180 litres! someone said a fish only tank marine tank, you dont neccesarily need a skimmer with a tank that big. say i put a big load of live rock, and stuff. how often should i do water change? how many fish can i put in there, what %of water change should i do?
  21. there are two arguaments here. lets draw a parallel to underwear. HOW OFTEN SHOULD WE CHANGE UNDERWEAR? well, some might say, wait untill its dirty, then change. some might say efore it gets to that stage. well in this case, its up to you. if you change everyday, there really isnt anyharm if you change weekly, there is also no harm, but if you change after a month lets say and the water juts isnt flowin anymore cos its so clogged and dirty.... then thats no good. as note, polyester filterwool, all you have to do is pray it with a hose, you can re use them, in fact, i reuse all my filter wool (im a cheap ass asian) becaues i find no difference or advantage to not, i clean it, re use it, and it catches dirt like it was new. i have purchased only 1 big bag if filterwooll a year, only when its really bad then i put new wool in there. but for a internal. generally you should have sponges not wool. if you have wool then its guranteedto clog asap. internals idont think are designed for filterwool but only course sponges anyways.
  22. dont think its a goodidea fish orseafood for lizards generally isnt advised. unless you are looking at marine animals. water dragons dont generally eat prawns, little fish yes but not prawns. i personaly wouldnt recommend it but if someones been doing it it longer, then maybe its ok.
  23. no shells:D peeled pink shrimps that i used for my stores, but we discontinued the shrimp and garlic barbecue pizza, i had 8 kilos left:D and the fish loves them!
  24. i am leaning away from mixing aros now except silvers only every forum says that jardinii generaly will never get alongwith other aros! sad:( jardinii has to be such a grumpy bum! (grumpy bum is what my gf named that jar) noticed something different with the jar i feed it prawns and only prawns, frozen pink ooked prawns from supermarket. when i put it in there, it used to wait for it to melt, and swallow then wait awhile then eat again now i can put 7 to 9 pieces of prawns, succesivly quickly, and it will eat, swallow and eat again swallow very quickly. strange change in behaviour.
