  1. yes, i believe it might be but i will not be complaining
  2. lol fair enough well there is no way after all for me to tell its gender. so lets say its a female:D you may give her a name
  3. fair enough they wre listed wrongly, they are supposed to be sclerepages jardinii im sure
  4. definately, at first they were not but becaues they were so fast, the jar i think got tired of chasing them once in a while, the jar would chase them and fend them away from food. but they are ok now
  5. apparently, direct from the LFS, that one batch came in. about 12 to 15 of them at very most. Hollywood had 4 themselves, the rest went all over the place. it takes awhile to sell them as they have a "warning: gets f...n huge! and will mostlikely attempt to kill or kill any tank mates" to my understanding they were not supposed to com ein, but came in by mistake and it was jsut let through or something like that. none the less, the last time i saw them was when i came in to nz 1992, they marked them as PEARL spotted arowana, i remember, i was aro mad then at 8 years old:D
  6. ok so not spotlight but that same stuff from spotlight is ok, just make sure its cheaper:d
  7. they are rewarding. all aros are:D im an aro fanatic!!! the jardinii you will need to hunt around abit, i think they stopped bringing them in now. but they are cool my goal is to have mine about 24 inches by this time next year:D im putting him in an 8 foot next year. he usually eats 2 to 4 whole shelled prawns a day, but i only feed 1 cos i dont want him growing tooooo fast:D
  8. so concensus, that spotlight polyester wool with out chemicals is ok to use?
  9. polyester wool you get from LFS from brooklands, an you get this else where cheaper? i have seen some in spotlight, or ikes emporium and random sewing shops is this ok to use? just tha ti go through alot of them making it cheaper would be optimal
  10. Whoa guys guys lets take it easy! usually i am fighting with the people...... it feels weird cos i feel responsible as i started the topic haha
  11. i must agree with david here. I am not at all a DIY man. IN fact, i get frustrated with god damn pvc pipes:D and what bloody glue to use!! im not in a position to start a hobby of metal craft. Welding machine, sourcing metal nor have i a ute to pick up lengths of metal. Though i appreciate your position amazon, i wish i could do that. but i agree. Metal can be put into much stress with out bending and can support great weight, but i believe that the tolerance for mistakes on a 8 foot tank thats 1200 litres plus the tanks weight and gravel would require alot more precision and i simply do not have the expertise to do so. 150 is rather cheap. I cannot demand 200 ,300 or even 400 for this, it would take them a long time to do it, measurements and they need to pay their guys too,in fact i would worry if someone was to do it that cheap. steel alone is almost 150 for square tube steel. anyways AMAZON, if you are willing to do it for me for 150, for each stand, then you are welcome:) in fact how about 200 per stand:D no one here will dedicate their time for someone who will not reward them with nough cash to justify the time involved in this.
  12. i will let them know they actually said themselves they will build it like that the will lay everything on a flat bench to weld and i will stress the importance that the legs must e 100% even
  13. yeha, all good and well but i dont know anyone who would do it that cheap good quality also. i have called everyone i can think of, this is the cheapest place and very reputable. so, unless i have a contact - then im stuck:D
  14. thta sucks bout the pleco evil elmo! anwyays, the scarlet is going to a completely different tank with the royal so yeah
  15. moving tanks lik that is not tooo difficult. what you gotta do is hav ea tub or spare tank at the site, bring our fish there first wiht some spare filters. then you can take your time to move one tank at a time 3 to 4 people shoul be enough to carry tanks safely i think. you may use the old water too if you have the containers for them. if not then you may have to take your time more. if you can use 50% o the old water, then its like doing a water change. a big one when you move. im dreading moving my 6 foot, and 2 8 foots:S
  16. yeah thats what i thought, hence why i was hesitant when initially looking for plecs - but, after i saw an actual specimen, 5 cms only.... the colour was vivid, same supplier will provide the same type of specimen variant. scarlet apparently comes in a couple of different variants. the ones that are in right now are very coloufull. the red extends to the base of tail and fins as opposed to just the tips of them and they eat meat:D
  17. heres my Jar Head. Hes a fatty! when he is in the bigger tank next year, i will feed him so much prawns a day:D i want him 24 inches!
  18. maybe it was an invisible one:D
  19. fair enough shrimp is ok to use, im a fan of shrimp i think its very handy and cheap, 9.99 a kilo at new world with sales every 2 to 4 weeks. i buy 2 to 4 kilos at a time then i make my staff help me stuff it with Hikari aro pellets:)
  20. if you can get me that contactthats great but no one else have been able to quote me cheaper, becaues of steel prices have almost doubled
  21. salmon, wow gourmet! lol i would eat the salmon:D i will feed this scarlet pleco shrimp and algae wafers... probably more meat though:D
  22. yeah, i send the fish to a shrink every once in a while. usually they come back with demands for live food:D
  23. rockygold from MFK suggested the food i feed. he said that a combo of shrimp and pellets is best.. more so shrimp. he said when it comes to this type of fish, the meaty foods really get them big:D
  24. lol i am unsure that it its a predatory pleco it is a scavenger that eats meat on occasion and detritus at the botom of rivers but it does excite me that i can feed it shrimp:D higher protein means bigger quicker:D
