  1. I am looking at breeding mealworms for personal use, not large scale for retail. just because i go through lots of it. ineed to speak with someone who has done it before got some questions thanks I have googled this bu need experienc how long does the beetles live for? how often do you move the beetles to a new laying container?
  2. mi pretty sure they would maybe even one more red tailed gold if you are lucky the 1.5 red arowanas not sure if they would be, one of them had gill curl
  3. somewhat rare. they bring them in batches, i assume only every how many years or so, if they keep bringing them in, sales would stop because the market here is small, they are very expensive! and a selected few actually buy arowanas due to its size and nature of keeping them. There will be some on trademe once in a while. look out there. but mainly, just gotta put your name down for one, usually involving a deposit of 50% so thtas a minimum of 750 bux. i have 2 asians ,one australian - im talking about fish by the way
  4. Removeable lid is easy enough. yes, i will put power to it, power bit is easy for me, you can get fittings for that. its more the construction, im not a DIY guy, but lots of help offered so thats good:d
  5. yeah, that aro must have needed counselling. expensive stuff
  6. yes, i agree they should be able to turn with out having to do a 3 point turn lol
  7. i agree silvers grow fast and long asians tendto grow thick wise not long. also, i find asians to be less skittish and frightful. silvers are very jumpy. hence the bigger tank
  8. i would way either a wide 6 foot tank, (6ftx3ftx3ft) very minimum OR better yet, 8ftx2.5ftx2.5ft. i think anyways. for a silver aro
  9. Hi all planning ot make a reptile enclosure outdoors. like a giant rabbit hutch, i want it to be a winter and summer enclosure. i want a indoor bit in this outdoor enclosure where it has a glass front and a socket for a heater in it where they can go in and warm up in winter and get natural sun as they see fit. but my dilema. As you know, if you do not then now you will - i am not a DIY, but i am gonna start! today! now! so i dont know jack sqaut aobut this stuff do i use treated or untreated timber? should i use untreated and paint or treated and no paint? i know treatment for wood is very harmfull for all animals, does it seep out of the wood as it gets wet? or is it pretty safe? has anyone used this before? or should i use untreated and paint over it with outdoor paint perhaps? any plans or pictures would also help of a rectangular enclosure like a giant rabbit hutch, this will be about 8 foot in length, by 1 metre by 1 metre approx. no plans yet, but any pictures or even if you have plans already ...... please, save me some time!!
  10. yes, i definately feed mine up heaps! but they gererally have an appetite, when hungry i find them more agro.
  11. how big is your initial "tank for now untill i decide to go away for my job and then i will give it away tank"? if you catch my drift:D well, lets put it this way, a silver arowana will outgrow a 4 foot tank by 2x2 in less than a year. they will get to 12 inches with in 4 months with the right care and feeding. 12 inches might not sound like alot but it is a biggie. i have 3 arowanas. i have seen them grow fast! and big!
  12. oh yes, would lvoe to check it out and give some help
  13. First and foremost, i love the idea of a massive pred tank. AKA monster tank. In that tank, this is what i would have. 2x clown knife 2x royal knife 4x silver aro or 4 sorts of differnt aros except jaridnii unless youare brave. bichirs giant gouramis OR lots of pacus, iant gouramis and 5 silver arowanas:D but yes, as david said, is this an actual plan, or a dream? cos i want a tank like that.... for now its a not a plan but not just a dream.... ill call it a drlan.... a dream and plan combined:D and people here know im eccentric enough to do it if not then they are non believers!! anyways, if this is forreal, the MFK links is the best sites lots of plans
  14. usually 6 months but a year is safer. thats what i read and have been told. depends on the type of reptile too. welcome to the forum you will find answers here. very informative!
  15. no, not yet i emailed hikari to formulate some for me to make crickets grow big:D
  16. yeah, i fed a big locust the other day, a winged one. that was fun to watch, but i save it for lizards generally lol due to cost also. im gonna buy smal crickets from now on and grow them up. very easy! i feed fruit scraps, and massivore delite:D lol
  17. no, dont wanna give aros the insects. i save them for my reptiles. the aros are on shrimp and massivore combo:D i think that shouldsufice, there actually isnt much goodness in crickes and locusts compared to the engineered superiority of HIKARI...(i dont work for hikari by the way:) if i could feed my reptiles on hikari, i would..... oh yes
  18. 1 week!!! the crickets are growing fast! more than doubling its size.
  19. yes, but always good to have it anyways. Even breeders who spend hours tending to their animals for a good yield of eggs would use them, so i figured, a tub lasts me a year, its 15 bux..... not too bad ok, thanks for the interpretation guys
  20. i have flukers, REPTA CALCIUM. on the side is has the following, DIRECT QUOTES Calcium not less than .....36% Ingredients: LImestone flour, Flavour, D-activated animal sterol (Source of vitamin D-3) Now does this mean this calcium contains Vitamin D3? and not just pure calcium?
  21. in my experience, red belly pacus become totally black anyways whent hey reach a big size, but i also read that black grow bigger. both are awesome fish, i want one or a few:D
  22. giant gouramis are really bad its the only thing that dared attack the jardinii and went head to head it seems to not care what it eats:D
