  1. they are legal called maf and said they are, multiple breeders here and not in "containment" but yes, you never know with these things, but they have been here for more than 25 years!! the kiwi house has a handfull too
  2. Hey hans not many to go around so dont think he will swap with palmas
  3. i want a reptile background idea 120x60
  4. i had my BD in a sandy substrate, to be exact, crushed river rocks to a fine sand material and when it ate waxmoth, it would swallow some sandy stuff but it poos it out i think its highly unlikely if you use sand it will result in compaction, but its hard to say. i mean in nature, this is not a problem ims ure. also, if you supplement properly, they will not get the instinct to eat sand or dirt for minerals
  5. i hear that for reptiles, beardies, bt, leopard geckos etc that sandy or find crushed rock substrate is not to be used. now, anyone ever had a compacted lizard that was using this substrate?
  6. Not for sale sorry, cant buy one................yet
  7. Hi all jus twondering is this available in nz? i cannot find it basically these are like mealworms but much much larger, more meat! any info please let me know thanks
  8. i use carrots i figure carrts wil enhance the colour of my reptile:D but in saying that its not really the biggie, just cheapness whas the dryest best vege to use? kumara? pumpkin? or bread has moisture? can i use bread instead of veges? but mould from bread might make the bran mouldy too how often do you change the bran? so you put half inch, do you just top it all the time or do you take worms out and change bran too?
  9. the markings are just in juveniles, they will become spots and lines in a few weeks. roughly 1 month after hatching and if they are well fed. shedding happens 5 to 7 days after hatching, then roughly 2 weeks after that for the next couple of months, they will shed if well fed and grows fast. as they sed, markings will change. after 3 weeks, the markings have already changed and you can see the old skin layer becoming more see through and you can see under that is the more spotted and line patterns
  10. can i put mealworms in a thinner layer of bran, then change it more often or maybe put bran and bread? or just thin layer of bran and make sure there is always veges in there? or does the bran have to be thick?
  11. no, its never enough when they say no, it was large for me lol
  12. how long does it take in terms of timeline worms to beetle beetle to laying beetle death eggs hatch eggs turn to mealworms mealworms to beetle again can someone break down the rough timeline? also when the beetles are moved to a new container, how long do i wait before i put them to another one. how do i know they have laid one clutch of eggs? what colour does the beetle have to be to lay eggs, i konw that they are initiall white, then brown then black, then dead. so do they lay whn brown or only black how long do they live for when they turn black? thanks just wanting ot know when to transfer and etc
  13. Good luck lol i have been hunting for large catfish for AGES! i did find some though:D but unfortunately, they are taken! i contacted the last guy that had a tiger shovelnose...he sold it 2 years ago still waiting for a guy with a red tail cat that eats chicken drumsticks lol he doesnt wanna sell. i offered a rather large sum of cash..... but .... no
  14. thta really is a bad experience. but i think all learns from a mistake, no matter how much "why did i do that" factor it has. i think everyone starts as a novice fish keeper, and what makes you a vetera is the following 1: fish dont die as often anymore or for stupid reasons 2: you have hard to care for fish that dont die 3: you have fish taht are big, meaning they have obviusly survived for ages and still alive lol but you know, now you learnt the lesson. sorry to hear bout your fish though if you do plenty of water changes - you can actually prolonge the times you clean your filter. but to be safe, you should anyways
  15. lol yeah i was thinking bout that, or sticking some veges onto locusts or crickets! no, yeah, i konw with out movement, they dont seem to care. i even tried a string and jerked the vege around, but it doesnt seem to mimic real life movements of insencts.
  16. lol good one mark! i will reco it to hikari:P should have it actually, well, in theory, if they get all the vitamins and calcium, then veges are not neeed. but i guess it is nice if they eat veges cos its cheaper:D lol but thats ok jus wanted to know if anyne else has a beardy that likes meat more than veg!! i guess in nature, they would probably eat more veges and greens if there are no insects around? so starvation more so than desire? i dont wanna starve my BD. never really took to eating veges. i have tried all fruits and veges, no luck, even bananas or sweet stuff that usually they love r should love, it doesnt eat, but if i put one waxworm or some meal worms or a cricket, it goes nuts! i tried holding the vege by its mouth, no luck too. beardies dont really drink much out of a tub or container o water so blending it wont work i think.
  17. i have a BD 2 years old or so. does not eat veges, refuses to even recognise it as food. jumps at crickets, locusts, mealworms, waxmoth but veges a no go. why is this? i see that you guys feed you beardies veges, plates of them, mine wont eat it\ how do i entice it to eat veges?
  18. Hi all, anyone know where to buy mulk cheap bran flakes in auckland?
  19. cool you know where i can get masses and cheap amounts of bran>? how much do they sell for bulk?

  22. Ok so i just take out the beetles, once they die after matin and laying - i just kep the dead beetles in there?
