  1. Spot on the Kyle, and yes it would be 15cm, heaps bigger than my male which is about 10cm at at least 4 yrs old, i liken it to people, all shapes and sizes LOL
  2. $150 sounds reasonable for that setup, $50 for the tank, same for filter then light. If its new thats close to Auckland prices, depends a bit on the filter (corner filter $7 or Eheim 2010 $50-60) and light (single or twin and make).
  3. I love the "Your tank will easily house one of these fish as they will just stop growing when they appreciate they are the optimum size for the tank" LMAO The one in the pic looks like a b/nose to me but their friends at 300 odd mm will definetly be a pleco.
  4. Add me to that list  Might actually be able to remember some of the names of the plants in my tanks finally LOL
  5. I get the same thing in the bottom of my Ehaim cannisters, i had put it down to some form of low light algae.

    killies

I understood from reading her posts she was asking about Killies?
  7. I keep Swordstails and Guppies together and as long as they have some plant cover for the fry to hide in they are fine.

    Baby Guppies

This question is regarding which Killies would go with the guppies so wouldn't it be better in the Killies section?
  9. I thought that was the Moderators job Shae, very aware of the rules as you may notice there has been no mention of names or any identifying information as per the rules.
  10. Can anyone shed any light on whats "officially" happening as i had heard he was arranging for people to be paid but haven't heard any more?
  11. Wouldn't surprise me if he's moved trying to dodge people, but what goes around comes around
  12. I'm pretty sure i remember where his house is, i'm very keen on going and repoing for money owed to me and all the lies, anyone else from Auckland feel like a trip to Papakura?
  13. And ill be with the guy with the guppy in his pocket
  14. Yep im keen as well, probably coming with Wok LOL Hummingbird, are you keen on a meeting this week?
  15. Got mine today, thanks for another great read Caryl : -)>
  16. You could always try PMing Niloc and see what it would cost for him to fold up some stainless, could have them custom made for shape and size, not sure how it would work cost wise but would look great
  17. I'm going so you can come with me if you want, been a while since i played " Taxi" LOL
  18. I had something similar with a lot of my guppies, does it look like the tail and pectoral fins are rotting away? Also does it seem to be getting thinner as in loosing the rounded stomach and almost looks straight across the bottom?
  19. I've had an AR850 for just over a year now with no problems, you've seen mine and it's never leaked, i know of someone who had an AR 980 that had a leak, turned out when the black surround was put on top of the glass it wasn't sealed all the way around and this is where it was leaking from, i think some silicone was applied on the inside where it was leaking and this solved the problem.
  20. iisfaq, check out my post earlier to quiet down the splashing from the filter, sometimes they can drone but if you move the filter and light apart and try moving the lide it should go away.

    Fluro Tubes

Awesome guys Thanks heaps, i tried the "i know what i'm talking about" at Rexel East Tamiki but the lady didn't know what k rating the tubes were and tried to tell me i need the purple (15000k i think) for plant growth. She did give me 2 free starters so i think thats worth a mention Once again thanks everyone for helping me "see the light"

    Fluro Tubes

Is anyone in Auckland able to supply some fluros? Looking for some 3' tubes and some for my AR850 (740mm from endcap to endcap) mainly for plant growth (which i think is 7500k). Had enough of LFS staff having no stock and not knowing what they are selling (can't tell me what k rating bulbs are, don't know if they have them or can get them and can't tell me the difference between 7500k and 15000k) Any help appreciated.
  23. If its an 850 or 980 there should be 2 white and 2 black, i had the same thing with my 850 when i bought it, tell the shop one was missing as they don't seem to check them before they sell them. I have the black on top, white underneath then the noodles on the bottom. ROCKETMAN, the reason i put the noodles underneath both layers is to keep as much gunk out of the noodles as possible. If you find the tank noisy i use a piece of filter wool (bought in bulk) about 30mm thick on top of the others as a pre-filter and it stops the water falling on water noise. I also use one of the black wool pieces over the outlet hole to stop it aerating the water to much and to try to preserve any CO2 in the water.
  24. Have you bled the air out properly, the easiest way to prime the filter is to fit it empty and have the filter lower than the tank then suck on the outlet hose (top of filter) to fill it up via syphon, try giving the filter a shake and see if any air bubbles come out of the outlet or if it stops pumping water, if bubbles come out or if it stops pumping then it is an air lock causing the lack of pressure. I have never heard of problems with the classic which is why i use them, ultra reliable.
  25. Have you cleaned out the inside of the hose with a hose cleaner, also give the inlet and outlet tubes a good clean with the hose cleaner. I have found with my external Eheim's a drop in pressure is usually a gunked up hose.
