LOL i don't think there is such a thing as cheap quarantine in NZ, black ghosts are pretty well priced in Auckland, saw 3 around the 150-200mm mark at Jansens and surprised me they were only $29.95 each which i thought was cheap compared to other smaller ones i've seen at some LFS for around the $40 mark, next tank will be for one

LOL i tried catching one of my angelicious loaches, they are crafty bu@#ers :lol: 1 1/2hrs later and basically everything out of the tank on the floor i finally caught it, they definetly know where the net won't fit LOL

Are you sure it was a mating dance and not fighting, i have seen my Angelicious fight with my Queen and Yo-Yo's. They go round and round in circles and if you watch them for to long it makes you quite dizzy LOL They do seem to changes colours a bit when fighting as well.

Admittedly the chev does have more kw but only because it needs it to make up for the lack of handling the 40 yr old rear end gives it. Finally the 2006 VE is going to have a new rear end so the handling may catch up to the ford. Giving way 10 kw is pretty good considering the large displacement mismatch. The murphy ad "ahhh truth syrum, no car wax, bring it back clean 51" is very good. I have two Angelicious Loaches, one is doing fine the other one has a huge tummy, it has been getting bigger for a couple of weeks now and i wondered if it was carrying eggs but imagine it would have dropped them by now. It is the more active of the two Angelicious and loves to chase the other loaches of the same size. I'm wondering if it is constipated but it doesn't seem to fit the symptoms i have heard about constipation e.g white stringy poos, shy and hiding, inactive etc. I have some epsom salts and wondering if someone can reccommend a dosage and how long i should leave it in the bath for. Thanks in advance : -)>

Is the tank going to be heated as i would be worried about temp fot the b/nose and yo-yo if it's not. They should get on ok but you never can tell with fish of course, one will be fine and the other can be a s#^t head LOL

Hi Deb, you will find that Jager heaters will heater a bigger water capacity than equivalent heaters because they have more surface area, the box should tell you what size it will do up to, off the top of the head a Jager 150 watt should heat 300ltrs, although personally i always buy 300 watt because they aren't much dearer. On the note of the filter noise i have found the noise is from the water falling on to the filter pads, your LFS (local fish shop) should have filter wool in bulk (usually around $5) which is a lot thicker and cuts down on the noise considerably, a double layer may work even better but i haven't tried it. I have an AR850 which has an identical filter (slightly shorter) and with the extra filter wool it's basically silent. Good luck with the tank and fish and definetly research everything before trying or buying (here and on the net)

A pic might be possible if they will co-operate, they are usually hiding under some schist rocks so not sure how well they would come out but it's definetly worth a crack :lol:

I'm not surprised either, the way their tank is setup is more suited to the public being able to see them than breeding them, a lot more privacy and much better caving structures would be needed as their current ones are way to open. Awesome looking fish though and i always have to make sure there are still 3 there every weekend LOL

Yeah thats the "guppyless tank" haven't lost a guppy for nearly a week now , and yes there are still a couple in there LOL I think we should set up a 2ft, put in the zodiac, your tiger and my big clown LOL I put my money on the big clown As they say he don't take no s%#t from no one. :lol: I noticed the swords yesterday.

I have 2 in a 4ft tank with swords and guppies and wondering if the zodiacs are responsible for 1 dead small sword and another small sword with 1 eye missing. The zodiacs are in with 2 small clown loaches, they don't bother the clowns but do chase each other. I was tempted to put them in my AR850 that has 2 x lochatas, 2 x angelicious, 2 queens, 2 striatas and 2 medium and 1 XXL clown loaches but thought 11 loaches in that tank was enough, would like a 4-5ft tank set up especially for the loaches but i suspect the zodiacs may not get on to well with the queens and angelicious. The angelicious and queens spend a bit of time chasing each other and i have watched them fight for just under 1 hr.

Pearlyred, what i was trying to say was i doubt if they will eat that algae, there are many different types of algae and some the GBA will eat and some they wont. I had food in 3 places in a 3ft tank and have it in 5 places now as about 15 of 70 odd GBA wern't eating. Have they been eating any of that type of algae Hummingbird?

Does anyone have any info or own any of these loaches? Wondering about aggression.

The only thing in with mine was more GBA's and again not a mark on it. I have yo-yos and they are quite peacefull as are the striatas. It's the queens, angelicious and zodiac loaches that are the trouble makers. I have a sneaking suspicion a zodiac is responsible for 1 dead swordtail and 1 one eyed swordtail.

LOL, i recognize that filter, it's an Eheim of course, only the best for the lil goldies LOL You will find that some algae they will eat and some you may still have to clean off manually. Any idea how many fry you have? Hardest part is getting the fry to eat, you almost have to put the food right in front of their noses.

You will find that eventually a 3ft tank is to small for the pleco and will end up having to put the pleco into a larger tank (4+ft). You could try having a re arrange of wood, rocks and ornaments etc in the tank and see if that helps sort out any territory disputes, the b/nose may want a female but if they end up having eggs the male b/nose may be worse. For the split fins i would use some Melafix or Stress Coat if you have some.
