  1. My angel has had this.It did not die but it took a while to stop.I had found the name in one of my books. It is a paracite that makes them go ape trying to get it of.It says that if the fish cant shake it it finaly stops and another angel fish will remove the paracite.I read this a long time ago so i could have a few things wrong but i will dig it up post the name.
  2. If that is the average why doesnt everyone here have the same or better. That is a nice tank. Room for coral to grow with a nice selection and not cramed.Very nice example i think.
  3. They should be taking pics for national geographic.

    Flat worms.

Thanks guys.I cant take any frags as i have seemed to kill the bio side as well. The tank looks like i just chucked in some dead coral rock and spead it round a bit. (except for the nice green grass growing on everything.Yeh right.) I have recovered from my depression stage and will drain the tank in a few months when the rock livens up a bit and drill some more holes in the bottom. Thanks again for the frag offering and support. I will post pics of the rebuild as i have lots of things i want to fine tune.

    Flat worms.

I used this flat worm exit 2 weeks back.I removed as many as i could see by sucking them out and then added the recomended amount drop by drop. They died instantly.I had the carbon ready and 25% water just incase(400L).As soon as they died the clams closed instantly and not much else happend. Then i put the carbon it as directed and sucked out the dead ones. The tank the turned urine yellow and had me a bit worried. The fish seemed fine but the coral was starting to pack a sad.So it put in another $120 worth of carbon and changed 400L of water and watched the tank for improvement over an hour.THe anenome was looking real sad so i got anther 400L of water of my mate which did nothing to improve the tank. Now it became a nail biteing waiting game. The first to go was the anenome. The clowns left it which was the first sign. The fish were still fine and had been for 6 hours.I think when the anenome died it help poison the fish because the died staight after except for the clown fish. They seemed unharmed.I took out the anenome and stuck it in a bucket but it was to late for the fish.I rung my mate and he has a key to the local pet shop and we got some moer water and took out all the coral and stuck it polly boxes which we floated in the top of the tank till morning. All i have left now is some polyps. The two fish that seem to have not been affected died after 2 days buy scales and skin falling off as if they were burnt.Only 10% of the coral lived.GOOD NEWS is i have no flat worms.BAD NEWS is it cost me the lives of my fish which i have had for a while which was hard to take not to say all the coral. My tank looks like a water grave.Next time i will strip my tank and dip them.Flatworms 1. 9. Hollywoods about 3 weeks back.
  10. I think it would be difficult to stack rock 1mtr high in a skinny tank that is probly why they look like river stones.Hate to be the one neck deep trying to get to the bottom.
  11. Had the same problem. My phos was out of control.I changed thousands of litres over three months. This only reduced it to 0.5 and it would not go any lower. Then i got some phosphate killer(salifert).500mls does a 2000ltr tank for 3 months i think and it only cost $60.00.This reduced them to 0.2 within 2 weeks. It seemed to stay there so i got another one which took to unreadable. It has never come back and i change every 2 or 3 months no matter what the reading. Its cheap security and the coral looks great.
  12. Hope it turns out ok.My regal liked to eat coral(only meaty type etc).DARN IT. :-?

I just got pink birds nest coral(sps).I didnt like where i put it so i moved it and in doing so i broke one of the tips. The tip was glowing green.Does this mean it might get green tips. Like Iduncans pic.
  17. If you have no sump you can run a pond pump behind your rocks and run a spay bar or a few outlets. Most pond pumps have a plastic protection guard over the inlet. The whole gaurd is like a grill and will not create a big vacuum unless 80% covered.I have run this system for years due to not enough holes drilled in tank for external pumps.Never nad anything sucked into pump. Its not a small pump it pumps 9500ltrs an hour.
  18. Sounds good. You will find $5000 might not be enough if you go all new. There are plenty of members that can help you find the stuff you need and save you some money.
