I have a few mushrooms that keep rolling round on the sand.Whats a good way to hold these free agents on the rocks. Why do they smell and also some stain my skin orange???????.

MY mate has one with 4 anenomes, a hawk like fish, 2 crabs , a snail.The anenomes are neat he got them from a pearl farm that closed down.they had show tanks with native NZ marine life that they were going to chuck if no one took them.He put them in a spare 800mm bev front tank he had and hooked up a canister filter and its been going like a dream.It is over 1 year old now and the only thing you have to replace is the fish and crabs as the anenomes are a bit nasty,but they cost nothing. He dose not have a chiller and it has no problems.We have a lot of fun with this tank as it not so serious as a reef tank.

Sorry been holidaying.My tank is 8ft L 4ft W 2.5ft D and i have had to order another light . At the moment i only run 2 mh at 150w and 4 fluros at 40w each.My new light has 3 250w mh and 2 blue tubes. So it will go from 400w to about 1100w(never thought about till now) Have 4 pumps,3x 24hours and one 12hours. Pump size 9500lh Return from sump 4500lh 12hours on closed loop 2200lh zeovit 3300lh protien skimmer.Have to upgrade, will be a bigger pump(s#!t) It is around 1600L with stock in it. Big is better but the cost is the biggest. Sorry heaters 3x 300w in sump Lights are on from 11.00am to 10.30pm (11.5 hours)

Should we put pics of things like star fish and other little critters that we get on coral sometimes on here. Will maf deside no more coral because of what coming in on the small rock base just like the banning of live rock due to the same thing. PICS OR NO PICS of freebees.

All i can tell you in my case is the power bill went from $90 to $100 a month to $360 a month.I did not think the on going power cost. Its a about $20 to $30 more in winter.($70 a week)Funny how no one tells you this. 8)

Welcome to the marine world. As for having a sump they are an asset.They are mostly used as a place to put all your equipment ,ie protien skimmer,pumps, heaters, and so on.They are good as you dont have so much stuff hanging on and inside your tank.They are good for adding top up water and adatives also. When you mix kalkwasser there is a white substance that settles on the bottom before dosing.Is this left over kalkwasser and can you just add water to it and remix it.

So should i take my one out and then put them all in at once?My purple tang is getting large so would size of new tangs have to be same.?

How dose your sohal tang behave as i have been told plenty of stories about bad behaviour.I am very keen on getting one.

I have never had any luck keeping more than one yellow tang or purple tang.I had a yellow and purple for a while but it turned ugly.I also wanted a sail fin but am not to game any more.I have seen them in other peoples tanks together with no problems.I have tryd to rearangeing the tank before putting another tang in but still no joy.I have read in most books that putting them together can be dangerous but i am being teased by tanks everywhere with tangs in them. HELP.

I had a bright neon green capet type anemone with a white base.I had it for only about 2 months as it apeared some how to hunt my fish.It was the most amazing anemone i have seen for its colour and character.It could make the green tips look as if the were doing the mexican wave.DO NOT PUT ONE IN YOUR REEK TANK.My one ate my cleaner wrasse and some how nearly ate my large purple tang.It seemed to be able to sence things close to it and move towards them.Many times it would change its shape to be able to reach my finger coral.It would grab on and pull for about 2 minites than let go.I sold it and the new owners have lost over 9 fish trying to keep it in there reef tank because of its colour.They have now moved it to its own tank as they cannot part with it.

My KH is 9 or 161ppm.I will try another test kit for calcium. My mag is 1380 nitrate 10ppm po4 0.5ppm

REEF I cant see your regal angel that you say you have just put in on those pics.You should get one with it in for proof of photo age.I have seen jetskisteves tank and it sparkles.As for coral colour it is amazing.

The question is, would this high and riseing calcium cause a problem.Also how can you correct it if need be. My calcium level is now 620.I have not added any thing for over 3 months and i dont have calcium reactor.

I started useing zeovit about 2 weeks ago.I noticed that it is alot clearer then before.I will take some pics of every thing now and in 3 three months and post them for inspection.

Have you thought about moving the inlet hole from the bio balls to the caulerpa down to the bottom and put another strip of glass in to hold the m mud bead so you wont get a dead spot or even a place where waste will collect.

All you have to do is turn your temp up to 28-29c .I garranty this works.The white spot cant reproduce.I have used this method for nine years without a death.

Mine similar to the reeflife or lifereef skimmer(i think thats what they are called).It has a 50mm pipe inside the 100mm main outside tube.The 50mm pipe is to one side of outer tube.The inlet pipe goes down inside the 50mm pipe from the top(as in the pic).The bubbles have to go to the top of the 50mm pipe which is about 70mm from water level.It seems to create volcanic eruption of foam.The return pipe is down the bottom next to the 50mm pipe.In the pic you can see the return pipe go around a plastic fitting.That fitting holds the 50mm pipe in.It has a tap to control the inlet and out let flow.I am going to get a venturi of jetskisteve soon which should make it rip.

At the moment i am running to 150w mh ,2x actanic tube and natural sunlight during the day.It is keeping it going till my light arrives in feb.I ordered it in october.IT is a 3x 250w mh arcadia light.The reef set up is shaped in a curve with each end coming close to the front glass and the middle sinking away to the back.I am going to put the 2 150w mh in the front corners and run arcadia light along the center.Because of the width it shades towards the front.SORRY THE SIZE of tank is 2100mm L 1050mm W 700mm H.The actual water level is only 640mm H.The sump is 1100mm L 500mm W 500mm H and it runs 2/3rds full.Sorry no name on skimmer all it has is made in germany.This is my next big buy as it is not strong enough anymore.It is about 600mm H .More shots soon. This is a shot of the back,a bit messy but it still gets modified alot.

Just gone one year with the new tank 1600L.Had alot of small set backs like the cost$$$$$$$.It still is not right but i have spent so much money in a short space of time that is just going to have to wait.I did not think the cost increase would be so huge.I would not give it up for a small one again.Any way here are some pics.
