  1. heres a pic of teh backet setup in the cabinet, just fits in, in hind sight i should have made the stand a little higher (not just for the skimmer but for everything)
  2. abit worrying if you hadnt topped off in two months aye jimmy
  3. well three updates tonight. after emptying out another two litres of cloudy water from the waste collector, which by the way is the greatest invention ever (i'll elaborate on the skimmer thread) i tweaked it this morning and instantly i had a massive head of foam form, not just lots of bubbles but real foam. :bounce: second: i did some tests Nitrate: 0 Calcium: 400 kH: 8 (bit low but acceptable) third thing is a little weird, i took some xenia out to rossco's house (probaly about 70% of the total xenia in the tank) as soon as i took it out i noticed some of the white xenia wilted abit, by the end of the day it had almost shrunk into non existance and then by the end of the next day it had gone. :-?

    Webcam

but just make sure you dont get the xtra security suite  i think the webcam is a great idea, hard to believe more people dont do it
  5. but 400$ that seems a little insane
  6. design, never seen the inside of a beckett though so i cant say whats different
  7. id prefer not to have to empty it three times a day though there is wet and then there is wettttt. it will take at least a few days untill the skimmer starts hitting its stride
  8. 400 for what? the acan would cost about 120$ there is a red/grey one at the store for 80ish (labeled as a blastomussa non the less) the green sps (poccilopora??) would be about 200ish given its size
  9. no leaks (at least not now that i put every thing in place  ) got the whole week off
  10. problem solved, my thread, no more conversation about metric vs imperial. the skimmer pulled out about 1 litre of watery skimmate last night, alot wetter that u would like but thats all part of the dailing in proccess.
  11. yip it drains into an autowaste collector, cylinder with a pingpong ball that floats up to shutoff collection and backs it up to the collection chamber (so that the waste collector is used more than the collection cup its self allowing for more waste to be collected and a better designed riser tube as well
  12. yip, i'll give it a good clean tommorow
  13. no worries Ira. if the clown is quite big in comparasin to the anemone then it can smother it into an early stage
  14. dont worry slappers i'll have that hose sorted before you come over. might get my wife to cut it as on sunday when i cutting the tube that goes into the skimmer the stanley knife broke and cut my finger open a little bit.
  15. here's a pic of the clam that Andrew (jimmy) picked up a few weeks ago.
  16. and some of the waiting ends here is a full tank shot (note the lack of bubbles  ) here is all the equipment in the new sump (note the empty fluidised reactor still waiting to pluck up the courage to put in some zeovit) and a nice shot of hydo, (spectacular coral under the moonlight)
  17. sebae's are notoriusly poor adapters to tank life, some people here have them but i would suggest that they are among the more compitent reefers. you can move the rock but the anemone will more than likely move back under the rock as most anemone's are very sensitive to light when introduced to a new tank
  18. sorry slappers (ill bring you back some salt on saturday i just snapped some pics the water is a little cloudy at the moment (not enough skimming as there was no skimmer on the tank the last few days) i have however conquered the micro bubbles so with the absence of the bubble and the diamante glass i managed to get some nice clear pics of a few corals, something i never managed to do with normal glass (even only with four mm)
  19. there you go kiddies, changed the title so there is no confusion
  20. first impressions are as follows the noise i was expecting it to create was alot more than it is in reality. there is a bit of a wirl and hum from the pump but that dissapears once the door is on the cabinet. as wasp mentioned it is very turbulent in the reaction chamber, alot of bubbles and already a head of foam has formed at the top. the bubbles size varies abit, most really small (1mm or less) and there are a few bigger ones bouncing around (the turbulance part) over the next few days ill have the opertunity to dail it in and get it skimming the way i want it to. pics tonight (not that there is much to see, as soon as i turned it on the collection cup and the waste collector all steamed up
  21. im pretty sure its 500 litres give or take.
