yep no doubt the tunze are really the only suitible long term solution currently on the market, i am waiting for the new vortex product to make my final decision as to which i go with
  3. depends on wether they like each other. oh and how deep your pockets are to get a tank big enough to put them all in

    New toys

my via aqua takes about the same amount of crap out of my tank with only one fish in it and i still have my seio running fine, and once i get my beckett humming along on friday i can almost garuntee that deltec will not be taking residence on my wish list
  5. what do you think he is doing??
  6. it depends where you want the overflow as to which will be most practicle. if its a corner overflow then glass is easiest and cheapest, if its anywhere else then go for the customer cut acrylic
  7. did it hiss at him?? man that would freak me out
  8. now you re-evaluate why your trying to take it out and realise that its not worth the hassle because youll never get them all with out starting from scratch and trying to will drive you nuts.
  9. lol 20k  im glad to be able to say mines no where near that.
  10. if you meant to let you know what the benefits are then i have one symbol for you $
  11. you can buy polishing stuff for it but i would reccomend asking at RC as the yanks use acrylic alot more that us. might pay to ask at your local plastics shop as well. on a side note that would look really cool as a seahorse tank.
  12. maybe thats why all your corals are brown steve if i were close enough to the beach i would use it with out hesitation, the fact that there are risks is obvious but imo they are far out weighed by the benefits
  13. lol good luck. best bet is some type of worm trap, like an eel trap sort of thing (cut up coke bottle) i have seen them crawl out of the rocks eat a nice big peice of poop and go back in, happy little scavangers

    Sand

well ghostface, when two caleurpa's really love each other they get married and havea special cuddle which makes baby caleurpa's. its alot like any plant really, they mature and bloom which fouls up the water. ie not good

    Sand

cheato isnt available in NZ as far as i know, if you do track some down let me know cause it would be great in a nano refuge. but in a low neutrient tank there shouldnt be enough food for it to grow well

    Sand

totally agree wasp, some people do it well while others struggle. personally im not really fussed as to wether or not i have sand but i will end up with which ever works out best for the corals and also my fish. i dont trust myself currently with a sand bed. that might change.

    Sand

what about it? i would say they didnt go about changing to Barebottom the right way, the nutrients are all still there but instead of the sandbed being there to buffer it over the tank will suffer, the same think happened when i moved to my new tank but has now stopped as my rocks have efectively cooked in tank
  18. one he set up for someone else. cracker you tank is looking pretty sharp. should develop nicely
  19. that blue clam is really nice, which shop did you get it from?
  20. lol, one day they might be considered an esential part of a clean up crew. i have got quite a few but dont really bother with removing them, cant say ive ever seen them do anything bad, the majority of them that i can see tend to head towards the back glass where the algae is (not corraline)
  21. it does look alot like your one cookie, nasty little thing
  22. lol, you could always chuck those in the tank
  23. i think they just call it "red sea salt"
