  1. yip any skimmer will build up salt creep/calcium deposits over time, good mantainence is crucial for any skimmer
  2. tell me how this is F'ing up a thread.
  3. the whole time i've been trying to contribute, as we are talking about the exact same skimmer i dont see the harm in it. if its that someone dissagree's with you and tells you to raise the water level and you get offended im sorry but you need to realise that i have not attacked you personally it is you that sinks to that level.
  4. well i had my first loss in the new tank(at least i think i have) i had a very small frag right under the MH that was starting to colour up and since i replaced the bulb last week i noticed it was lightening a bit but i didnt move it in time and it has rtn'd oh well, everything else has done well and in the next few weeks i hope to get up some pics of the improved colouration
  5. me name was on you review?? so if the purpose of this thread isnt to review the beckett what are you doing??? enlighten us
  6. can you get a pic?????? xenia dont really have sweepers. are you sure its not something attacking the xenia?
  7. the jokes on you jimmy, the ocean has been using a deltec for years, turns out alois did a review back in the day saying that the deltec was better because it had little bubbles. of course mother nature beleived him
  8. found this and thought that i would share, from what i can tell they work a little differently than marine skimmers http://www.schuran.com/freshwater/abschaeumer_e.html
  9. i was very cautious when i ordered mine and looked around for about 6 months (almost buying a deltec in that time) in the end i chose a well respected company (ocean werx) and took the advice of beckett users on other forums were beckett users are just as common as deltec users. end result is a happy customer. the things that were going to push me to a deltec were the noise and the big pump needed, both have turned out to not be issues
  10. with the results your getting cookie i dont thik i would change that thing for all the zeospur in germany
  11. i would swap if i had a spare one lying around but the only one i have is my one and i like it
  12. too bad porshe's are so ugly as well.
  13. calm down paul, go have some rum or something. its too bad the red dragon pumps are so expensive cause they would make great closed loop pumps, awesome flow rates with really low power usage
  14. yip im sure the red dragon pump would add a little to the price tag http://www.sewatec.de/Pumps/Powerheads/aqua_connect/
  15. yeah i thought that it was my turn to have a go at it.
  16. arent the pumps on the BK's red dragons????
  17. under skimming?? i had one small clown. i seriously doubt it was under skimming, if anything i was skimming more than you would in your tank, in relation to the stocking
  18. the thumb screws are easy as. whould change them my self. reef you are running the water level way too low. ross came over today at about 5ish and i had emptied the collection cup on the beckett at about 4ish and i had already collected more than what is shown in the pic of the deltec. i have no doubt that the beckett if used correctly will blow that deltec out of the water.
  19. yip its a fluidised reactor, i used the cheap stuff that penajane was talking about and my corals did not like it at all. the price on the jansons stuff is great its just a matter remembering to buy it when your up there, next time im going up i'll let you know so i can get everyone from ham some. what about your NIWA carbon? that should be failry good stuff
  20. not readily available unfortunatly
  21. alot of venturis hav ethe air intake after the pump, the one ou have sucks in the air straight into the motor. the clear pipe is to adjust the height of the water level
  22. i'd say the pump on it is fine , you would have to make some type of venturi if you were you chang to pump on it. the air goes in the top of the black thig (you can twist it to change the amount of air that goes in.
  23. why not chimera?? for the price i thought that they would have thought a way to negate gravity. hmmm brians antigravity skimmers
